    lir, you are not an idiot. Idiotic and uninformed are not related. Please don't get upset on account of us on here.

    I get frustrated when I can't do things. I find taking on new information hard. I hate that I have limited capacity to learn now. I get very flustered and my mind goes even fussier than normal. Then I get cross for not being able to do what everyone else can. Then I feel stupid. Then I get sad. then I get cross and frustrated with me, then I get tearful! Its pathetic!

    @lir, try right clicking it and see if a "Save as..." option appears.

    "Paint" is generally found inside the accessories folder and is nothing to do with microsoft office.

    If that fails download Irfanview, which is a free and much friendlier drawing package.

    @lydia.

    My first inclination would be to turn the conservatory back into a conservatory and make the front door into the family room. I'd then convert the garage into the family room.

    Any more money to spare and I turn the stairs around so they start in what would now be my hall rather than the dining room.

    I just nearly got suckered in.... saw a house with a sea view (not close enough, but I looked anyway).... HUGEST kitchen ever (25x18) with twin french doors leading to a sunny garden..... which suckered me into wanting it. But it didn't tick half the boxes, so binned the idea. It was at least 25% overpriced too, probably closer to 30% overpriced. Layout was wrong, 18x11 main bedroom had no en-suite, no garage, on a main road, no conservatory .... only thing it did really have going for it in the end was a nice tidy workshop in the garden. Would have cost me all my pennies too.

    Oh, did I look at pics of LydiaJ's house? Thought it was LIR's. I am easily confused at the moment then.

    I'd not mind entering a house through the conservatory, so long as it didn't look odd. Bl00dy handy in fact as you can bring stuff in/out, people can take off muddy boots/wet jackets out there, plenty of room for everybody and everything that's coming into the house in a hurry when there's bad weather.

    OK, I am more confused now. Just opened my PMs to have another look at these plans (that I thought were LIR's) ... and I thought then that they were LydiaJ's.... but the file name says they're Michaels.

    So - I have completely lost the bl00dy plot.

    I have some fuzzy plans here... and no idea whose house they are :)

    How interesting. One of the plus points for me is that you do not have to go through the family room to get to anywhere you might want to let visitors go!

    I'm quite happy to use the conservatory as a conservatory and as an entrance. I'm going to put chairs facing the sun, so you walk behind the chairs on your way in. Possibly some kind of screen or something to make more of a barrier.

    If I had lots of money I would make new doors between the narrow bit of conservatory and the bit of kitchen that hasn't got any units in it, and separate off the actual conservatory from the way in. That's all I'd change, though.

    Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
    Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)
