I should have been braver with paint colours. Its looking brighter, but a bit insipid. Never mind. Eventually these will be my utiliy room cupboards and can be repainted again in a cheerful colour like flamingo or fuschia or have glitter paint. These will look cleaner and brighter for now, which is a good thing. :)

Apple green not bold enough??? Crikey lir you're brave. I like pastels and muted colours. I get about as brave as natural hessian.

Oh that's a shame. I imagined it as a more crisp, Golden Delicious type colour.

I bought a house with peach and pastel green wallpaper, plus a 4" border.... in every room. Stripped the whole lot back, a lot of plaster came away, had some walls replastered.... but I'd been 'bullied' by a sibling who thought that houses needed colour schemes, and who was very forceful, so I bought a load of paints, different colours. I had four different yellows even. In the end, there was a bit of a rush on and I got two local brothers round to paint it before I moved in. But they were lazy and seemed to have invited some friends round and used the living room (which was being left 'as is' at the time as it was decent) as a bit of a workmen's dinner shed.

So, it never got done and I moved in. Kitchen was painted a gorgeous "Dulux Once" shade of Bali Sand. Which was nice.... but then somebody who had a creative eye came round and said "this'd look great white", so I painted it white - and it was better.... so then I painted all the rest of the hallway white - and it was much better. My next house will be all white.

The best thing about all white is: it's cheap, you don't spend time choosing it, or finding it, or guessing how many tins you need. White is always available, and always cheap; it's never discontinued. For touching up, you just need to keep the one tin - and literally walk round once a year with the tin and a brush, just touching up the bits here/there that need doing. It's genius!

I have exchanged contracts this morning. :j

We will complete on Friday 28th Jan. :D

The builder reckons he can get everything done by 9th Feb or so. :)

I am giving it plenty of leeway (not least so we have time to paint after he's skimmed the plasterboard) and intending to move in on Tues 22nd Feb. :)

This means I have about another three weeks to get this house sorted out to a state where I can have removals people round to quote.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Yay - I bet you are on a rush today :)

Glad you have a couple of weeks over on the builders - we ended up with only 10 days between possession of new house and leaving old house and builders were still working on the day we moved in and had to come back at the weekend for 2 days to actually finish up (but there were rubbish). I am sure yours will be fine.

Pleased but not overwhelmed. Dd asked to go for a drive-by when I told them after I picked them up from school. But they are not at all happy at what they clearly think is my crazy idea that they ought to help sort out the stuff.

I, on the other hand, have been looking like this: :D (except not green) since my solicitor phoned to say it had actually happened.

The pastel looks less pastel at night. Its grown on me. In fact, I love it. Its a mark I've made on the place.

If I have any paint after very badly needed second coats I might paint the splash back too.

I chose green because the blinds have green in them and green one of my fav. colours.

PN, we're doing an all white guest room I think. But its mainly because we have some quite heavy furniture that with a more serious colour could look a bit....serious. with whites we hope it will look austere and sophisticated. :)
