You could tile it - it would look very posh (I know, bit of a bigger job than painting!)

I've just asked on the relevant board, but does anyone here know anything you can paint melamine work surface with? I want to make the work surface nice now too....:o
    I think....

sorry I've had to post a link to the cache as it wouldn't connect through to the page. They are saying no which is what my dad said to me too when I asked. You can get lengths of worktop pretty cheap, sure it won't be the nice stuff that AlanM does, but it still has the potential for a facelift.

For walls that need cleaning, I really like (would be interested in Doozer's second opinion on this) Dulux Diamond Matt. Lovely finish, wears brilliantly and can be bought in bespoke colours (in my case bespoke pale colours:o).

Love the look of Lydia's house. It looks a grown-up home :)

How do you send access to facebook photos without revealing the rest of your stuff?

Hmm. No opinion really on that, I've not used it. I've washed a lot of walls but never over much of a period of time. Dulux definitely stays on the wall better than cheaper paints, without doubt. If they say it's better, I'd be inclined to believe it but that Once stuff is the work of the devil so I don't believe that anymore!

Nearly every wall at home has been painted twice already. We just refreshed the lounge after 2.5 years, same colour, regular Dulux; we never use anything cheaper than Dulux (been there and learned the lesson; less colour variance and less coats to start with).

We're either selling the house straight away or so whimsical (neurotic) that the walls never stay the same for long at home. :o Nearly every room has been painted twice already. The sparkly pink B&Q in the kitchen (bought on one of those whims) that took about 10 coats to get on, that washes well!

I know H has fallen asleep because we've nearly made it through an advert break without the channel being changed :)

I hate Once. All those visible brushstrokes:mad:. It looks like my kiddie poster paint pics from school when I use it. Dad and bro say that its for DIYers only but of course I had to try. That'll teach me.

Or left click to open the photo in a page of its own, and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Underneath the comments space is a little bit that says "Share this photo with anyone by sending them this public link:" and a URL.

PS It is a grown-up home. I am thrilled with it. As I said on another thread, I missed the boat by not buying in the mid-90s when all my friends were buying, but a very fast hovercraft (in the shape of late-nearly-ex's life insurance) turned up unexpectedly and gave me the chance to catch up.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Did I miss any photos to the house or is it just from the descriptions?

I PM'd one to silvercar because she asked for it. I don't think I want to post one on the thread in case people identify it. I'll PM it to you too.
