Pleased but not overwhelmed. Dd asked to go for a drive-by when I told them after I picked them up from school. But they are not at all happy at what they clearly think is my crazy idea that they ought to help sort out the stuff.

I, on the other hand, have been looking like this: :D (except not green) since my solicitor phoned to say it had actually happened.

Lydia, so pleased to hear that you have finally exchanged. Must be a real weight off of your mind. Not surprised the kids don't want to have a clear out though. My nephews did the same last week. All I can say is that they'll make excellent supervisors when they're older.

Well done LydiaJ. We've had a chat and can all make Easter weekend, we'll bring our own tents, but expect a good cooked breakfast to be laid on daily.

It's my dream to live that close to work. Usually a job's been 15-20 miles away, so 30-45 minutes in rush hour; other distances have been 90 miles, 200 miles and 50 miles. 90-200 is a weekly commute, starting on a Monday morning; 50 miles was a daily commute, across and through rural Cornwall, taking 60-70 minutes each way.

That's why I won't buy a house until I have some idea where a job might be, because I'm determined to finally, one day, work close to home.

I grew up in the countryside and am now coastal/rural. When you live miles from big cities then most jobs are in other small places that you need a car to get to ..... and the roads are small, narrow, winding, unlit and often muddy. So slow journeys.

We are lucky in that even though we are coastal and rural ish, we also have a major port on our doorstep...it is the major employer in this area.

It would take me more than 10 minutes to get there now as we live further out but at that time, we lived in the first housing estate outside the port. My last job was more towards Ipswich and was approx 8 miles from home but because it was all on the A14 and no in town driving, I could get there in less than 15 minutes too (by car obviously).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Oh yes.

I've already used "If I sort it out I will throw away the stuff I think we don't need to keep without asking you whether you want it."

I'm also intending to try "We are going to move during half term. If you help with the sorting and preparation, you will be allowed to be there on moving day. If you don't, I'll know you're not able to be helpful, so I'll find a friend to look after you and you'll miss it all."

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

My mother has a mouse in her kitchen cupboards. She cleaned it all out (sorely needed) and left nothng it could get too, hoping it would wander back out. The only thing not packaged was the tea. It ate some tea. My mother felt sorry for it, and has started putting in a cracker everyday for it.....
