were you sending out photos of the accident?
Are you deciding what to do about the car?
I'm in shock. I'm home and it's not 6pm. Not commuting for 3 hours a day frees up a lot of time that never existed before....
I'mso happy for you that you have the evening. What are you going to do with the extra hours?:)
Sent photos to a couple of friends really...mainly because its on the computer and its pretty impressive.0 -
PN, I :heart2: the jewellery (not so much the big star thing on the end though). I particularly like the purple stuff and strangely enough I have been hunting for something nice to go with a black dress, purple tights and black shoe boots. For a first try it is really impressive
I buy loads of costume stuff and I agree about the clean lines.
LIR idea about the sea and the sand is absolutely inspired. We (and by we, I mean me) will buy anything if it is presented attractively.
I do think jewellery is a very difficult market though. You can get some really nice stuff for peanuts in Debenhams sale. Dopestar is not too far wrong, the top end of the market is easier.
You need an edge. Healing powers, or positive chakra of the stones used or summitRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
Very nice, is they are standard beads and just wire, then about £15 or so, depending on where you are in the country. If you upscale to silver and use precious stones, you can then probably sell it for £40+ (depends on the length).
£40 .... that'll do nicely. Ta.
Plz thx. Just need to get "good enough" now and get it [a] made photographed [c] described [d] online.
I'm guessing at prices because I look at website which sell things a lot. I don't buy a lot but I like looking at them. :rotfl:looking is free ... buying's dangerous.
I've spent most of today looking around at different beads etc - some exciting stuff out there.... and I've found some brilliant looking beads, which I plan to get ... tomorrow.
So scared of buying things though
Buying things doesn't come naturally to me.0 -

Strongly agree.
I think the etsy sort of level....I will pay £50-100 for a good piece of semi precious tat,but not £5-20 5 times for five pieces of even less than semi tat.
And identity. Making them different from others.
I think PN's eye for framing a picture was also interesting..revealed an eye. Combined with an eye for order, alike of doing things properly and a love for sparkly things I think this could at the very least be a profitable hobby.0 -

I'd already got in mind I need a trip to a beach to steal some rocks. I know of some really gorgeous rocks and some lovely slate. Also need to pick up a pack of shells/dried starfish type of tat (loads of that here). And some consideration for what they stand on: e.g. hand made papers in pale blue/white perhaps, like a fine woodchip; or some textured linens.
So, beady eye on the look out now for driftwood, slate, paraphernalia pertaining to our fake impression of the sea.0 -
She needs an edge.
Stones chosen to encourage friendship or true love or to enhance positive thought or wealth or whatever. Add that to pretty colours and chic, simple designs and you have to be on to a winner.
Everything is in the head when it comes to sales.
You can't compete at the bottom end of the market. A friend of mine had on a very pretty bracelet the other day. £1.25 from Primark.Retail is the only therapy that works0 -

They said there might be a little in his hands, but if its embedded to leave it there rather than dig about for it.
Now no need to worry about him we can start to worry about the car0 -

Stood there, looking around, had to pick stuff to put together so grabbed it ... and there it was in the middle annoying me - which is why I built the second one, without it. In real life it's smaller than it looks in that photo though.... but I can take it out in 2 secs.... and might do.
I'll sell you it. My agent MissKool will advise you of prices.
I had already planned my "style" and it'll be "Inspired by the colours of the coast in Cornwall".... every piece will be lovingly built, with the fresh sea winds of Cornwall blowing over them.

God, I love that. Loads of blurb about how you felt as you picked each individual stone.

I've got concerns, not because of the items themselves, but because I think the market place is shrinking. I'm told the "TableTops" as some people call them around here, with crafts / car-boots are seeing same sort of numbers of old visiting, but fewer people buying.
If you cornered a desirable luxury item which can sell for £1,000 pounds costing £300 to make... well one sale at £1,000 gives a lot of profit. Low order items... trying to sell for £15 on an item which has £2(?) of materials, time to make, stock. How many you need to sell to make a living? Markets are complicated out there, and prone to change which has only been forestalled by many a policy rescue action.
I'm not criticising though. Maybe I'm wrong. I want to offer alternatives. I'm certainly not against manufacturing - all for it with specialist niche products (eg home security).
Just have my doubts as to the profits when there is a big increase in people wanting/needing to become cleaners, or perhaps hoping to profit from selling craft-goods. I feel bad for posting this... certainly I recognise PN is intelligent, has some real business smarts, and capable of real success, but hope her energies and talents are channelled into the right areas from the beginning.
So, I don't think I'll make my fortune at it, but an extra £10-20/day would be handy if I could get it up that far.
Multiple income streams is what interests me really. I enjoy it, I've tried it, need to try and do more .... see how things go.
I could run off and do a course, proper course, at the end of which I could be a top designer type .... except, I couldn't design anything, I am not that dextrous/creative. So I will know my place, which would be: taking stuff people have made (the parts) and putting them together in ways I fancy and using my online skills to try to promote them + gaining valuable experience in ecommerce packages.
I don't want to try to make stuff for galleries and the type of upmarket shop that has 6 pieces on display... I just want to jostle alongside others 'just like me' seeing what works/not.0 -
I think if you are selling on-line, you should exploit the Cornish connection.
Unfortunately, I think someone's nabbed 'Land's End'
'Lizard' has some unfortunate connotations.
I'd also discard Liskeard....
'Lamorna' has a nice ring to it though!0
