tennis racket style, or gun style? Tennis racket better for mozzie type bugs, gun better for flies I think. I'm a dab hand with the old fashion type swat for flies ...i sort of distract them with a little dance and then thwack. They rarely get away.:D

Tennis racket style. I hadn't realised there's a gun style, how does that work? The flies are difficult to get with the racket - if they're mid air, it only seems to stun them, I have to hunt them on the floor to finish them off.

Apologies if anyone's having a late snack.

Yeah, the gun or the old style is better for flies. Because they can see the racket coming....still or in air. In air I think is easier with racket, but as you say, you then have to seek and destroy.

    Gun style is like this:

Ah, don't get me started on flies!

Since coming to live in the country, I've noticed that on a certain few days in November the ground is covered in flies. Then, just as suddenly as they arrived, they vanish.

But I know where they go..... my van! ...in the panelling, the doors and even into the ventilation system.

All they want to do is hibernate, but as soon as I drive somewhere on a nice sunny day, out they buzz, sometimes in such numbers that we have to stop for a 'fly break.' I have fumigated the thing with a whole can of pyrethroids, but still they come, though only in ones and twos now.

    But isn't nature wonderful....:A

I love the dairy cows next door...but the flies are dreadful here as a result. On the other hand they don't bite...arable would be harvest mites which are hideous things...like scabies:eek:

Yes. Can you recommend a good one? :)

I was also browsing threads, reading a bit here and there. I'd forget how fast moving this thread is! One of the many things I like about it - real time conversation rather than leaving messages on desks.

I'm out in a min...real time going to bed.

I'm having trouble getting post holiday routine back....it was so long. I'm finding it hard to go to sleep at night...and hard to get up n the morning!

I think we got ours from dmail or somewhere like that.

The dark days and nights can't be helping? Do you get adaquate exposure to daylight? I sometimes find going for a daytime stroll helps stop my sleep pattern goes haywire. Maybe mention to DH that a holiday is needed? :)

It's done nothing but rain non-stop here for at least the last 3 days. It's raining still/now.

I wonder why there was never any "Big Thaw" or "Big Floods" after the snow some people had last month.

I was up until 3.50am this morning but got beaten by someone who was up until 5.30am!

So I'm still wide awake now. I got up at 12pm :( H isn't working so he's doing the school run. He also just seems to let me sleep. Saves talking to me I guess :o

We're going out for dinner tomorrow. If I get a bit tipsy I might fall asleep at a more normal time. What is more likely is that I get hammered and start typing angry rubbish on MSE, go to sleep at 4am and wake up at 12pm again after everyone's already had a chance to see what I wrote. Pointless deleting posts by then.
