How tall is Ian Hislop?
and how tall is LIR OH and Davesnave?
What constitutes tall?
My younger son is 6' 1"+ and weighs about 9 stone, definitely too skinny. He has a bit of a complex about it. So tall isn't always good.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. So, here I am, looking to move.... and I've spent HOURS online looking at places to rent, to move to. Now, I'm being a bit picky as I want to be in a safe area and I want off road parking, so having to completely dismiss the "doss houses" that are available to rent (ex hotels now renting out rooms on a weekly basis at cheap as chips prices), but beyond that I was finding rents high.... so I thought "I know, I'll check the LHA rate, compared to where I am now" - £560/month is the LHA rate!!! How much???? £560 and add on £200 for council tax and bills and that's nudging £800/month for a roof over my head. Well, on a 'slow month' that's my basic (pre-tax), so bit hesitant at moving forward.
Rents are way too high. £560/month to a couple's only £280/month apiece, easily affordable. £800 ..... can't see a way out of it. There are allegedly jobs in the area that I could at least apply for (even if I don't get them), so it seems like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. I have to pay that much out, to gamble on getting a job.
Spherical things, that's the only word for it.
£800 for a roof over my head. Outrageous it is.0 -

I'm not sure, but I think I'm probably about 5' 4" now, though I was taller than that when young....say 5' 6"... but we shrink as we age.
I'm not complaining. Just had a card from a friend who used to be about 5' 8" as a teenager, but he has scoliosis, so he now walks around bent over at 45 degrees. I'd rather shrink naturally.:(
Also, as reported elsewhere last week, I fell flat on my face on some ice whilst carrying cans of hot water to the sheep, but sprawling in the road is no big deal to titches. We just get up and laugh.:)
Lastly, I remember my mates attributing my ability to buy alcohol from the age of 16 to my short stature. "They don't think anyone under-age and as short as you are would dare!" was their reasoning. Not sure about that, but I was always served where others were refused!0 -

DH is about 5'7-5'8. Taller than me in our socks, shorter when I have ''proper'' shoes on. He is a veritable giant for his family though.
edit: we want to go to the pub but have no idea what time it opens. its new so no details on line yet....safe to try at about 6:30pmdo you think?
How old is younger son? Sometimes young men just sprout don't they. Some of those I knew like that at 17-18 are quite delicious now they are in late twenties-mid thirties..they had room to fill out into.0 -
I've just read a post on another board on MSE that agreed that the boards with debate or discussion in the title were more likely to have racist posts in them. I really feel very sad that we have such a reputation.0
