Hey everyone - hope your days are proving more productive than mine
Our pot goes well, probably up to £150 or so now and I have added a new line to my signature as I'm trying to save at least £1/day to build up a cushion that will allow me to jack in my turgid job at some point
I'll be sticking it into an ISA, but as I need roughly £3.5k before I'll feel comfortable leaving (6 mths expenses), it might take a while!0 -
only put 21p in today! thanks for all the warm welcomes! xDebt Free Roll of Honor #598

My mum had her car in the garage today, she came back with the news that her tyres would be £350 each to replace (they have issues holding air in them). So I tried to convert her to the Sealed Pot way of thinking. I told her how much was in my pot (about £60 now). She argued that £60 wasn't enough for even 1 tyre, I argued it was closer than 50 Mars bars, some packs of crisps and a handful of glossy magazines.
Anyways, I found 5p in the spare room. I offered it as a start to her "Mum needs New Tyres" fund, but she declined. So it's got a nice new home in my potThank you competition posters!

Evening everyone, what a cracking day....all down hill from here thoughk8eh89 wrote:Using an empty celebrations tin for my pot (shame it was already empty :rotfl:)
It must have been full at some time, gannet!! Put those wrappers in the bin! :rotfl:Good to see you back with us and keen to save, k8eh89, brilliant news and a GREAT beginning!
Willow, spending around or less than £30 in total on presents for 8 people at Christmas isn't that bad at all - especially when you don't have a job. Any chance you could make any gifts via craft work etc? Keep looking ahead, blue clouds will come your way.
Lovely to see you, mommyof4 if only fleetingly, and so long as you're still saving that's the most important thing. Keep well, the family too.
Well done Lianne, a good start, and good for you on the roadkill Kerry! I must be slipping as I haven't had any for ages. I thought sparky was in Greece but I'm sure it was just a ploy and that the blighter's working my patch!!
Keep driving the point of firm saving across to your Mum, Decluttering, she'll soon come to see it makes sense - her lass is very right!

forgot to come on and post my £1 potted yesterday! Must have been all the excitement with my little lads sports day, he won 4 out of the 7 races (not that they are allowed to 'win' as it seems the children get too upset if they lose (rolls eyes)) and he won the relay race aswell by about half the field :j
Not sure where he gets his speed from as me and my sisters were always on Yellow team at school which consisted of the slowest, bookwormiest kids out of each year :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -

Go Jake! Isn't it sad that children aren't allowed to realise at school that you win some, you lose some! After all, that is the way of the grown-up world! But he sounds like a proper little speedster, and I'll bet you are a very proud Mummy!
And bless you, Skilly, 9 days late, that's got to be pretty uncomfortable! But how exciting that we will soon have a new baby on the team! Hope he/she arrives soon, safe and sound and healthy and happy!
Great potting, everyone! One 50p in the pot for me yesterday, but that's just cos I haven't broken any big notes, which can only be a good thing!

Lol cazzie, yes it does annoy me that he can't 'win' as i never ever had cause to celebrate at my own sports days (really feel sorry for my mum, 3 kids and i dont think any of us won anything in our entire school sports day careers) so I finally have something for me and mum to celebrate sports wise and we arn't allowed too! Not that I take much notice and still scream at the top of my lungs if he wins, think i might have deafened the poor child sat in front of me :rotfl:
I do wonder how all these kids are going to deal with the rejection of not getting jobs when they have never been taught that you cant always be best (though obviously my son IS the best and will never lose to anyone in the adult world )SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000
