Hi everyone - please can I join? I already have a terramundi pot bought for me at Christmas last year, but haven't managed to put much in it,
so thought it would make a nice starting point for this year!
LBM 1.1.16 = £27096.59 - now £17,020.38
Paydbx 2017 - £3588.90/£7000 = 51.27% - number 74
Paydbx 2016 - £6487.31/£7000 = 92.67% - number 740 -
Hi all, can I join your challenge please?
I've been doing the virtual pot challenge for much of this year, and managed to save lots of pennies without even noticing, so thought that I'd go the whole hog in 2011 and do the real sealed pot challenge too.
I have a tin in the kitchen that I randomly drop change into occasionally, so I will use this and hopefully do it every day from now on. I'll be needing a new laptop by this time next year, so I intend to use the money towards that, all being well.:jI shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.0 -
Course tis, scuba, the rest of the world just aren't quite aware of it - YET!! Look out when they do, we'll even have David Camerooon saving - huh, he don't need to now does he, we all do it for him. Wonder if he reads this thread?? ! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Ahh now I wonder if thats the solution to the UK's deficit?
Sue and the ladies shaking the change out of the pockets of all those wealthy bankers and MP's in London while Sparky and Stunty go off on a road kill hunt....i reckon we'd have it licked in a couple of days! :rotfl:It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Please let me join this challenge. My stash is regularly raided - this challenge may help me to hang on to it. Many thanks Sue for organising this.

Whoa, steady on there Neddy, this thread is running away at high speed!
Hi Sue, I missed this the first time around.......How about this then ......I've finally got some CASH!!! :j I thought DH had the tinklings of some cash in his pocket, so vaguely asked if he had any "No" says he. I waited til he went for his shower last night and scrabbled out £1.57 which is now in the POT!!!!! :j:jThat'll teach him! :xmassmile
....... it's good to know you're still up to your old tricks
Hi DMB2BGH,Doingmybest2bgoodhurrah wrote: »Kerfuffle - Thanks for your kind post! I'm not sure if I spelt "humungous" correctly or not now that you mention it, I just typed it without thinking about it so it could be totally wrong! In any case, my pot is daaaaaaaaaaamn big! ( Hope I manage to fill it, he! he!).
I know what you mean about dictionaries, they're no good unless you can spell the word in the first place!
As for Harry Houdini, you will see from my location that I am stuck in a 1970's time warp..... I remember watching a film about him with my Nan in the 70's, when I was an anklebiter, & seem to recall that Harry was his first name. Again, I could very well be mistaken, I usually am! x
Thanks for the reply, well whether you've spelt humungous correctly or not, this is the way I'll spell it from now until I know otherwise, and the Harry Houdini thing, well why not? It sounds feasible, it has a certain ring to it.
Well done to Everybody for the amounts you're starting to stash already,December is usually the month that 'every penny is a prisoner', so it's doubly well done. (And I saw that phrase on another thread and think it's brilliant - so I'm pinching it :rotfl:)

A warm welcome to the thread Lula-Hula, kochi1, hattiefats, majjak, pennies from Heaven, JoeyGrey, and HarveyGal! (a ruddy roll call there:eek:) It's lovely to have you all here with us.
Have fun saving in 2011. You'll find your numbers at the bottom of the list on post 3 of page 1. Please read through posts 1 & 2 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. Please pop your number on your sig, it helps so very much .
Lula-Hula wrote:Hi SueUU :hello:,
Having played a major role in helping me to stop smoking :A I am now entrusting you with helping me to save for Christmas.
No pressure then
I really need this thread - have been wondering why on earth I didn't save up for Christmas this year
Not aiming for a specific amount, but hope to achieve about £350.
Hiya Lula!!!!! Another good friend returns within as many days, more great news!! I'll be glad to help, but just like the quitting thread keep coming regularly for motivation to save. You cracked smoking, no reason you can't save, it's a darn sight easier to do - so long as you get it in the first place! I see you've set a Target for £350, if you can up it, how about going for £365, a £1 a day, it'll keep you regularly aware as well as pushing you to 'want' to put any odd pence you can in; it's addictive Lula, just like the fags were, but NOT anymore, you're addicted to saving instead!! Keep it up my friend! :j
Ahh, Blakesmummy, that is a wonderful thing to do for him, well done. :A Please, whatever you do, do not smash the Terramundis as those who sell them would have you do - in order to keep their cash flow flowing. Use a knife, tilt them on their sides and get ready for a thrilling time!
Sorry, Doingmybest and Kerf, but humongous is the right way - I googled it!!! :rotfl:
Tis ok nickynoo08, I did apologise a few posts on from that one as on the 4th time of searching I found you! I knew I'd heard of you, but couldn't see fer looking.Sorry.
Thanks a lot for the advice flying-fresian, though I suppose it's bound to happen like that when folk pop off.
Jolly good idea fingersxed, best to avoid the temptation. Sign of a good saver!
Thanks a lot, tinah, I did pop on there and check it out just in case I needed to PM you. Thanks.
You're much like me, henna, but we save on NSD's, by heck we're so darn good!
Plodding along nicely I see, PloddingAlong:P.
"Well, hello Molly, :hello:this is Sue, Molly ...it's so nice to have you back where you belong, you're looking swell, Molly, I can tell, Molly...." Yes, I know, enough of Louis Armstrong, but of course there are a lot of us who remember you so very well, you're an old stager. It really is good to see yet another friendly face returning. How are the kiddies, you too? You're still saving well, an excellent amount!! Any Target to set?
Oh, Observer, I love your way of looking at saving..out of sight...out of temptations way. Well done with that £10.
Aha...ladsmadd, somebody listens to me, it's a great day! A great idea about the phone though, you're learning - me 'n all.
You've got the best way, jakes-mum, chuck it on in. I always count mine, but it goes in one and out tother. Nowt to stop it, before anyone else says it.
You're updated terri72. You also SEASHELL.
Good news about the £5er, Decluttering. Very wise to get a passport too, you always need proof of ID, that's the best bet.
Oh thanks, Georgiegirl..that gave me such a giggle. "wants pennies for her pot" would make em all think you were desperate for the loo! ...but don't have change (well for the charging ones).
Oh scuba, don't tempt me - but what a thought - tossing coins from !!!!!!!!!! BTW..did you really mean bankers??! It's not what my DH says at all.
Kerfuffle, there's not much that gets past me with DH, he loves letting me have his money really...just doesn't know it, though to be fair, sometimes he'll fling over change and say "stick that in the pot" with a wry grin! He loves me...really! :kisses3:
Have a lovely week everyone, starting with a good day today. Keep warm, stay safe and healthy.
