  • Happy Sunday everyone!

Haven't posted for a while as I was involved in a multiple car crash a couple of weeks ago. It really shook me up. Feeling very tearful just typing this. I really didn't think I was going to walk away from the accident, but miraculously my dear little car saved me. Unfortunately the car itself wasn't so lucky & was a total loss. I had whiplash for a good few days after, but am now physically ok. My insurance company have been brilliant & provided a hire car. I hardly used it though; it was sooooooooo hard getting back behind the wheel again. Had to force myself. I managed to get my tax disc before the car went to the salvage yard & have returned it for a refund for the remaining months, which will go in the pot when it arrives. I felt quite mercenary, but figured that it was mine, so why let it go to waste.

Anyway, it really brought it home to me that we have to live each & every day as fully as we can. Won't go on & on, but I expect you know what I mean?

Hope everyone is doing fine. We used some Tesco reward vouchers the other night which we exchanged on the clubcard website before Christmas. Its thanks to Martin's warning that they were dropping the exchange value from 4 times to 3 times that I even knew you could do this, so a big thank you to MSE! We had a lovely meal out which was just what we both needed to cheer us up.It was a real treat as we seldom go out in the evenings.

I shall be assessing the contents of my purse this afternoon & putting what I can into the pot. Also, January's saved money from not buying any work lunches will join it tomorrow evening. I shall be pleased when January has ended, its such a difficult month for us financially. As my husband says, there's always so much month left at the end of the money!

I know its sad, but I am pleased to have managed to get a line full of washing dry! I forgot to bring it in yesterday afternoon, brought it in this morning & it's just right for ironing. No launderette for me tomorrow, so £1.60 drying money from my stash of 20p's has gone in the pot.

I am off out shortly to pound the fields with the hound.

Enjoy the afternoon everyone & stay cosy

Well done Sue for being on the ball and protecting us all :T

A lot of the Spammers seem to target the site in what is the middle of the night for you guys and is still early evening for me (cos I'm 7 hours behind), I think they think they're getting a head start and sneaking on when the site is less busy. A couple of nights ago there was one systematically going through all the threads and copying and pasteing their spam. Me and a couple of other posters soon saw them off, quite often within minutes of their post being put on. T'was good fun actually :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Maybe I need to get a life ;)

I agree with the night time Spammers, Kerf. I've been late on here, as you know, and they often creep on and very swiftly go to threads, or start new ones. I know one night in 2009 one went through loads, I looked at the posts made and we soon got shot of the beggar. They're such a pest though. BTW - I won't comment on your final sentence Kerf!!

Hi sparky, how lucky you are in getting all that OT!!! :j

Hi again DMB, good to see you back after what sounds like a terrible time! What a blessing no one was killed or maimed. Well done with the Tax disc - why not? It was yours to retrieve and would have been an MSE sin not to have done!!! Let go of any tears you still have DMB, they need to be shed for you to recover properly. Be kind to yourself and live life to the full. :)

Been for a gorgeous walk with DH..no money, but was so lovely.

Enjoy the really beautiful, though bitterly cold, day everyone. The sun makes it sooo good.

Sue x Anyone wishing to join us, please ask, you're more than welcome and it's never too late!

    Hi all
Nice and sunny down in Devon today! I put £3.20 in my pot today and hubbie put £2 in as well :-) Cleaned my car out earlier as it was getting particularly gross, found no money :-(
Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.
Keen to live a healthly lifestyle and save money
  • £1.20 in the pot on Friday night and on Saturday morning I picked up 2p in roadkill (this was about 8.30am, the early bird gets the worm!) So that will be going in once I remember where I put it!
    Thank you competition posters!

just a quick visit as the weekend is flying by, how come they always go so fast ?!!!

I'm having a NSD today so nothing from me for the pot; however, I've got 4 things listed on ebay all with either watchers or bids so the proceeds will eventually end up nestled in my pot. I have got so much I want to list but I've got the half term holidays off so will make a massive effort then !

Thanks Sue. So I just keep a note of what's in my pot and then report on the pot cracking date? Found 77p around the house so far. I don't have a specific target, other than to prove that I can actually save something, so it's really just a surprise for the end of the year. :)

thrifty fifty, no need at all to keep a note of what's in your pot. We normally count up what we collect in a day or whenever possible and pop it in the pots. We only tell folk on here if we wish, though it does help encourage other. After we pop it in the pots we forget it then add to it as and when and wait for a lovely surprise on December 1st!! Well done on what you've already saved!! No need to put it on your sig!

    All best wishes!
