Just a note about litter - some cats get 'attached' to a certain type, so best to mix the 2 types together for a couple of weeks if you are changing them over - gradually increase the new type as you run out of the old one.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

I live in SE London, there's a fishmonger on my local market (East St, Walworth) that usually has a big box of offcuts for £1/bag - my cat's developed an addiction to salmon tails! Even the posh Ginger Pig butcher in Borough will give you free bones if you ask. It helps to be a regular , but I've been known to go in and ask if they've got anything going cheap for the cat straight off.2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -

Thanks again everyone - really envy those of you with friendly butchers nearby
Just ordered from Pets at Home and to justify that nearly £6 in delivery cost.....I have ordered quite a bit, hope will last me a while
8 bags of catsan (20 litres) as they were 2 for £14 on special offer
48 tuns of cats food (their own) - cats only have 1 tin per day between them, the rest is dry
3 bags of 5gk Go Cat kitten (were 3 for the price of 2)
2 bags of chapie for Zara, both 15kg, one original one chicken
Uffff fingers crossed this is going to work and last for a bit...
Got enough Orijen for Zara for 6 weeks at home with the 2 bags of Chappie should be ok till mid march. Will have to mix Chappie with Orijen to start with so need to work out the quantities... Zara is about 3 kg overweight, can not let this go any higher....
Also got 2 bags of the wood pellet cat litter still at home, will mix it with catsan to start with as cats can be very funny with change of cat litter...
Tried to call Argos yesterday and cancel cat insurance but would have to be on hold for 20min as they were short of staff (recorded msg, due to weather) so will call again today
Need to get another cat basket and take the kitties to the vets next week for the injections and microchip , will take them to Celia Hammond as it is £40 per cat for the set of injections (£40 for a course of vaccine against feline enteritis, upper respiratory tract disease and leukaemia) and only £20 without leukaemia... MIcrochip is only £12 per cat ....that is for next week.
Thanks again for all the replies0 -
Catlou - emailed Skinners asking for samples, will see how/if Zara likes it, thanks for the links0

Best of luck with it all gettingready, you're obviously doing everything you can and I'm sure you'll find yourself back in work in no time - do you celebrate Christmas and is this going to put a downer on that for you? I hope not xx"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Oh, no hope of finding a job before Christmas..... I think, been applying for like 10 a day and nothing.. buuu
I guess I am in a panic mode, whatever money I got - I have ordered FOOD, mostly for dog and cats but also for myself... yeah, been to Asda website at like 3 am insane time...LOL
Skinners replied to my email, they have sent samples of their food say:I would recommend feeding your dog on either the Field & Trial Duck & Rice, Skinner’s Lamb & Rice or Skinner’s Chicken and Rice. German Shepherds are renowned for having a sensitive stomach, and the three products I have recommended have been popular with fussy eaters.
I would recommend feeding to her ideal weight, rather than her current weight, and also feeding 5% less than the recommended amount as she is spayed. Therefore she should be on about 415g per day, though every dog is different; some require a little more, others a little less.
So a bag of Skinners would last Zara per month, same as Chappie and not that much more....
Just tried to find a number for Pets at Home to possibly cancell Chappie from the order I placed VERY early this morning but the only number they have listed is ringingggggggggggggggg
Ok got through to them, they can not remove individual items from an order , they have to cancel the whole order... so I cancelled.... now have to re-order all - apart from the Chapie LOL
Well, not that I have much to do this morning anyway, been out with Zara at 6am (dark but white as snow up to your knees on Wanstead Flats) and then again at 8:30... silly girl has some issues doing a poo in the snow so had to look for a bit of grass....

It's my personal opinion. You need to ask the vet what the incidence rate is in your area and if it worth the risk if the cats were to escape from the house and then find a cat infected with FLV and then fight with that cat.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

HappyMJ - thanks for that, that would be £80 cheaper over the 4 kitties....
I always worry that although they do not go out - the dog may bring something in as the dog of course goes out....
Am I wrong here?0 -
