oh thats annoying. I hadnt read all the posts as I know they stock it in pets at home but re-reading noted that you didnt have transport.0

Oh, I can possibly ask a friend to take me by car once per month......deal with the "heavy shopping" issue that way....
But according to my calculations, I would only be saving £4 per month so not sure if it is worth taking the risk with Zara's stomach (possible vet fees) for the few pounds savings...0 -
I used to have 3 cats sharing 2 trays, one cat has died now, so I am down to 2 cats, but they will happily share one tray.
I was using the pets at home wood pellet litter but I found that the areas they urinate in would disintegrate into sawdust and end up everywhere, and als0 it was quite hard to scoop out the poop without also throwing away some perfectly good litter.
On a tight month I bought value cat litter that was like clay, ugh it was awful, the smell wasn't masked, it would stick to the bottom of the tray and I had to replace the whole lot every day. The next time I bought Catsan and found it a lot better, easier to remove solids from.
However as my boy cat got older I found his urine getting stronger and stronger and the catsan struggled to cope, so I have upgraded to the hygeine pack, it has a liner built in which soaks up the liquid and now I hardly smell it at all. I replace the whole thing once a week and scoop out the solids daily
Food wise I feed them Asda or Tesco own brand dry cat food, with the odd pouch/tin of food or some tuna/sardines as a treat. They are both healthy, happy and have shiny coats.
I did used to feed Iams and they did have shinier coats then but it got too expensive for me.
I do not have insurance either.0 -
hopefully if they stocked it somewhere (at a similar price to online) you could get a lift to then you would save a bit more because of cutting out the delivery cost?
i know what you mean about the risk of upsetting zaras tummy etc.
my dog has hip dysplasia (was just reading about the joint problems bit) he is a gsd x rottie. I hope all goes well with that. I buy the cheap own brand tubs of cod liver oil capsules which are supposed to be good and just put one capsule a day on his food. it's good for the joints apparently and also the evening primrose oil capsules are good for the coat.0 -
That is what I find with the litter I use now and go through so much of it - it soeaks the pee and turns into dust so has to be replaced every day really. Scooping a poo that is not properly ermmm hard is almost impossible without throwing away perfectly good litter too...
I am worried about clay type litters as we are in a 2 bed flat and with 4 cats insisting on using the trays at the same time - the aromotherapy can at times be quite.... interesting LOL
Need something economical but also masking the smell too.... Hmmmm0 -

Not quite, I would have to pay the friend to take me....0 -
The original Catsan isn't clay it's white and granular with a built in antibacterial agent, which I think it why it is good for not smelling. You only get a very small amount that sticks to the "moist" poop, lol0

Pesky - if you lived in NorthWales I would run you there as I'm always back and to there.
It's the delivery charges that always hit hard when you find an online bargain that weighs quite heavy.0 -
Thanks - just checked on PAT site and 20litre bag of catsan cost the same as 30 litre bag of the wood based one - wonder if it may last longer though....
May try that one...., thanks0
