    I've been Money Tipped!
    should i get legal advice??

Why would you pay someone to laugh in your face, there is nothing she can do as she isn't a creditor, if she is demanding money suggest she takes you to a small claims court.

I cant see what she was claiming as a single parent though, you say she had nothing apart from part-time supermarket work, so was she committing fraud or not? your story appears to change from post to post
  • well I dont know what she was claiming, all i know is that for the 2 years i was there the council and people like that dident know about me

    People like what? Council tax?

Initially your story started out as if she was taking you for a ride whilst claiming her single parent benefits and having the last laugh, but now appears from your ever changing story like you were the main breadwinner in that household and to be honest your £645 a month is very fairly justified.

Im not even sure what your question is now to be honest.
  • yes council tax i think she was claiming free school dinners my question was if all her names where on all the bills and i did not see them is £645 justified if she wasent working and claiming (not sure what you can claim) plus she was getting £200 from ex hubby from csa.

Do i have to pay her back the money I owe her if I think what i was paying was overpriced (as do many of my friends).

I was the main bread winner but as she said all her bills come to £2000 and she said i wasent even paying half, from what i can see i was paying she had no rent or morgage, so

    1)gas and elec
    2)sky with broadband
    3)food
    4)house insurance,
5)car, pertol insurance + tax costs (baring in mind I dont drive and bus everywjere)
    6 Tv licence
    7 water and sewerage

so that makes eachone of those bills 275 PM

I think what you were paying was fair enough, how much would your rent cost somewhere else? Why shouldn't you pay for your rent and share of food etc?
  • no me and other people thought that £645 was too much thats with out rent
  • I don't necessarily think you were overpaying compared to what it would have cost you to rent somewhere else and pay your bills on your own. HOWEVER it sounds like your £600-odd a month was covering most of the bills for the whole household considering she wasn't paying any rent. Therefore I don't think you owe her anything and if she wants that loaned money back from you let her take you to the small claims court. if she was claiming benefits as a single mother and not declaring your contribution she has an awful lot more to lose than you do.

Next time you go to live somewhere ask to see the bills so you can see if what you are paying is fair.
For example, my gas and elec are £100 a month, tv licence is £12 a month, water is £30 a month, food is £200 a month, virgin tv and broadband is £30, don't have a car, contents insurance is £12 per month, so it all adds up, my mortgage is £550 per month.
Just make sure you get to see the bills so you don't feel ripped off.
