I replace the butter/marg in a chocolate chip muffin recipie (loads available online) and i have a version of the american sweets - Reese's - small flat cupcakes of solid chocolate filled with peanut butter...mmm heaven !!
it works just as well with smooth or crunchy, but smooth is best !

Use it to thicken curries or mix with honey and soy sauce as a marinade

  • This thread is brilliant! I love peanut butter (has to be crunchy though!) but there are loads of ideas on here I haven't tried yet. Snickers muffins, mm-mmm...

Here's one of my favourites, peanut butter chocolate fudge:

    1 jar of peanut butter
    1 tin condensed milk
    350g dark chocolate

Melt the chocolate and peanut butter together in the microwave, then stir in the condensed milk. Pour into a baking tin (lined with greaseproof paper) and leave to set in the fridge. It will set really solid, you can then turn it out of the tray and cut up into squares. Yummy!

I know it sounds weird but an old flatmate of mine used to make these and they are fantastic (and very cheap too!)

Chop and fry an onion and a clove of garlic in a little oil (till translucent), add a tin of baked beans, stir in a tablespoon of peanut butter (I prefer it with smooth but crunchy is fine too), add something spicy (cayenne/chilli powder/tabasco) to taste, and something salty (soy/fish sauce) to taste. Serve with toast or a baked potato.

I lived on this all through my student days - it really is delicious!

    Ok two from me................
Firstly a moneysaving tip for the dog!
Buy one of those stuffed bones from the pet shop (chose the thinner the better) - when the dog has eaten all the insides, re-stuff it with stale bread spread with peanut butter packed in really tight. Keeps them gnawing for ages & when they've finally finished you can stuff it again and again.
    Now one for me!
Cook a chopped white cabbage. Layer it with dollops of peanut butter (crunchy is best) then pour over some cheese sauce. Top with grated cheese and bake till crispy. Delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the recipes - I have cashew butter to use up, it is very claggy to eat neat but adds a brilliant taste to foods in the same way as the peanut butter.

This is my (healthy-ish!;) ) recipe that my kids eat as fast as I can make it.....

4 oz peanut butter (crunchy or smooth)
    2 oz butter or margerine
    4 oz sugar
    6 oz SR flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    2 tbs wheatgerm
    2 eggs
    1 banana (mashed)

put all ingredients in large mixing bowl, mix with electric mixer for 2 minutes, pour into lined cake tin and bake at 180 until golden brown and firm to the touch...can also be made VERY successfully in my bread maker (Panasonic) - just make as above, line bread maker bucket with baking paper, pour in, choose bake only option and set for 50 minutes. If not quite cooked bake for further 5 to 10 minutes until firm. ...then EAT AND ENJOY!:j
