Welcome newbies - even the short grumpy hairy ones !! (peace and goodwill and all that....)Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
I think I should join a similar thread to this but for the whole of 2011!
I've bought/received lots in December which is great but seriously, I do not think I need a single item for the next year
welcome to the thread...we do it for the whole year but on a month by month basisMany of us have been on this thread since January last year and the overwhelming message that has been sent by every poster is that it is NOT money saving to buy cheap products that don't work.
Personally, over the last year, I have changed my buying habits. I still have a stash and it's not as bad as it was last January. I have worked out what suits my family and what suits me and what I love. Over the next year or two, I plan to try and pin point where and when the best times are to buy the products which I love and use.
that's exactly my aimA UU this evening, S&G flake away. WIBA?: NOOOOOOOO! Don't like the smell of it.OK ladies, the 30% code expiry and you lot have put me off buying the body butter lol! I do have plenty in my stash...
Glad to hear it, well done you*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -

Why do you feel the need to spend so much money on such trivial things as cosmetics?!
I'm not in debt either. Nor am I a shopping addict. Nor do I like to waste money, so this thread helps me focus on using up stuff, most likely given to me as gifts I may not be keenest on. I am also in the fortunate position now that my family are grown up that I can choose to indulge myself ( in the most MS way) if I wish
If there is a top-performing product in the brands you mention, never fear, someone on this thread will have spotted it and recommended it as a WIBA. There's no brand snobbery here, we just want products that do the job; if it's cheap as well, even better!0 -
Used up:
Sample of Elemis pro collagen quartz mask (another one but a teeny tiny one) - wiba no. If it comes as part of a freebie (gift with purchase) then maybe. But not with hard earned cash. Wasn't sure how old or how long open this was so used it on the backs of my hands.
Naturally fresh deordorant crystal - wiba yes (already have). It's American but you can buy it in Waitrose. I like to alternate using something like this (paraben free) with the Dove spray.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Wearing make up is not trivial. It's economically prudent. Survey after survey has shown that women who wear make up are better thought of at work and get paid more than women who don't.
I've tried all the brands you mention, and I think cheaper brands often work out more expensive.
Take Touche eclat. It's £24 usually but I got mine for £17 inc delivery from a website that Tara on here spotted.
Should I really have bought the £13.50 No7 one instead?
Even though I already know that it doesn't work for me?
(Barry M, Maybelline and and Rimmel don't do one.)
Take mascara. In 2008 in an effort to save money I tried at least one different mascara every month. I tried a couple from Rimmel, a couple from Maybelline, a couple from Max Factor, a 69p one from Savers, a couple from Barry M, a Boots 17 one, a couple of Prestige ones, an Urban Decay, a couple from L'Oreal, a Bourjois and a Revlon.
I spent about £120 and I didn't like any of them. Either they smudged, flaked, run, clumped, made my eyes run, made my eyes sting, were too heavy to wear and bugged me all day, gave me unattractive black eye bogeys in the corner of my eyes after ten minutes, or gave me spindly spiky daddy long legs lashes. (which I hate.)
Surely it's better to stick with the two or three I know and love than keep doing that? The ones I like aren't much more expensive than No7, L'Oreal and Maybelline. One of them is actually cheaper, and one of them is regularly given as a gift with purchase.
1. I'm not in any debt at all.
2. Even if I was, this thread is money saving. It's about getting product recommendations and using up products.
3. Call me crazy, but I think it's up to me what I spend my disposable income on.
4. About half of the stuff posted in post # 407 was a swap. I swapped away products I had tried and didn't like for new ones. No money involved.
5. All but two of the things in post # 408 and 6 of the things in post # 406 were gifts. They didn't cost me a penny.
6. Most of the square eye shadows in post # 406 were bought last month from a friend who has been made redundant, and who is selling everything she owns in order to pay her mortgage. I'm happy to have them, but I was happier about helping her out.
7. I'm 41. Most eye shadows from most budget brands look bad on me. Do I really have to buy them to make you happy ? Or should I buy the ones that look nice one me?
Ummm... Tough one.Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -

I did, it was one of your posts that made me think about joining. I stocked up on the Body Shop whenever they had glitches and Soap and Glory to top up purchases to use the 1000 points when you spend £100 online. Hence I have lots to use and then Christmas came as well
So here I am with enough Shower Gel etc to last all of 2011 at least
No more offers or glitches please, there is no more room at the inn :rotfl:Mortgage Free as of 31/5/11 :j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
footymadgal - Poundland often has the old HE products, I prefer them to the new ones
HTH!
QONMW, I had a £2 hair voucher but didn't spend it (forgot lol) - but that stuff looks nice. Let us know how you get on with it.
rosemary, what did you get in Lush? I had a look at the Lush thread on grabbit to see what offers were on - not that I shop in Lush much, have spent maybe £25 in there in my whole life. Their stuff just goes off so quickly and I can't use a face mask 4 times a week! :rotfl: Anyway, I soon scarpered... bl00dy hell, it's like WW3 in there! Scary stuff!
mummyofonechild - welcome to the gang
I am loving my new P&P Intense stuff, oooh it is fab. I have also started the Lift & Luminate day cream from the GWP and really like it too. Hurrah for new toiletries! I am close to the end of a few day and night creams so thought I would crack open some new stuff as a treat, then work my way through the almost-finished ones over the next couple of weeks. My mum also loves the Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference cream I bought for her (when it was on offer at £12.50 with lots of bonus points).Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
