    My 12 yr old a few months ago decided he wanted a PS 2. We agreed that if he saved half I would pay the other half but on a loan basis,he had to pay it back. Once he had saved half he got his ps2 ,and has paid me regularly since.He wont even come out to shops with me as he says he cant buy anything as he has to pay me first. Of course we give him the pocket money in the first place to pay us but still the principal is there!! Hope you get it sorted. KIDS!

  • Well don Victory! You have probably helped him with problem solving skills as well. Teenagers are not an easy breed to handle, they need boundaries but flexible ones and lots of love even when they are being truly vile as mine often are.

    Probably a bit late now but

    He has choices

    because of his attitude

    He doesn't get it till Christmas
    He gets no pocket money till Christmas
    He pays you the balance, then he gets it.

    You sell it on Ebay and he can have all the money at Christmas (half joking there)

    My son is getting £50 be it in gifts or hard cash or half and half - that's it, no more!
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

  • Victory has sorted it out admirably minimising the conflict with a win win outcome

    I know parenting teens - any age can be hard but I think alot of conflict can be minimised/stopped with the right presentation skills - you can raise kids with a half full or half empty menatlity with any amount of money.

    TBH when the friend comes back with the PSP I would just take the game out of the pack and then when the £53 is paid back or xmas arrives give him the game back.
