    Beware!
Going down the affordablemobiles.co.uk gets you the Orange sim but you cannot register it at the site they specify in their instructions (simregister co uk), the site just says that the page is not available after referring you to an https address. This means no free £5 topup. Sending an email to enquiries at affordablemobiles co uk gets bounced, this is their advertised email address on the affordablemobiles site.

Hi I sent for the sim from affordable mobiles, never used the orange wednesdays before, please would you be able to advise me what to do when I get the sim card, ie how do I put some credit on it etc in order to set it up for the free films, also, can you use orange wednesdays at IMAX cinemas?
    Thanks

Just wanted to make you aware that this offer does not apply to all Cinemas. I contacted my local Enniskillen (Northern Ireland)Omniplex and the Orange Wednesday offer does not apply there but the terms and conditions for the Orange Wednesdays does not specify that it is for selected cinemas only. Naughty Orange.

I would call your Cinema first to confirm before trying to use this offer.

Followed Martin's advice and applied for a free Orange PAYG sim with £5 top up. Received sim and followed affordablemobiles.co.uk instructions. I did manage to get the simregister.co.uk page and registered for my £5 top up. Their website does inform you that it can take up to 48 hours for the credit to be applied.

This appears to be true. Yesterday [Wednesday 29th] 9.30 a.m. I activated sim and registered for £5 credit. Wife and I wanted to see a movie that evening. No luck. To date [Thursday 30th] 1.00 p.m. no credit has been applied. Credit on sim remains at £0.01p.

I will update this post if/when £5 is credited to account.

They'll be getting commission for this without the payout they promised.

  • We (a friend and I) have managed to work out what is wrong with the simregister site. It may not work if your isp is blocking it. My virgin media cable connection would not get to the site but the same Laptop PC got to the site straight away from work!
So, if you cannot get to www simregister co uk , try and do it from somewhere else or get a friend to do it.

  • Time taken about 5 minutes from registering.
Affordable mobiles need to get their act together so that the registering problem at simregister goes away!
The address given for both simregister and affordable mobiles is the same - surprise, surprise.

their email addresses given on the site still do not work, though.

I can't connect to this site so I spoke to Virgin technical support. They say that the server at simregister.co.uk must be blacklisting them for some reason and the only solution is to get them to stop it.
