I have made a BIG mistake!

Why dont you just do as deddogblues suggests (post 9)
I always check a sellers ratings (as we all probably do) and think its really unfair of a buyer to leave untrue feedback.
Yes it probably goes on all the time but it could well come back to bite you on the bum!!0 -
1) The postage and packing is of wildly varying amounts, for what are virtually identical items - from £20 to £150. I therefore maintain that the ad is misleading.
2) From the outset, I admitted that I made a mistake, not noticing the carriage charges.
You of course simply come across as a very rude arrogant person, who has never made a mistake in their life.
"His problem is he can't read and digest two lines of a listing." - Please keep petty insults to yourself in future.
That's not a petty insult, it's a well aimed one. They are directly below the item price in the listing, how could you "not notice" them?
Anyone buying from abroad would definitely look at the postage as it is going to be higher. In fact, anyone buying from anywhere would look at the postage, it's part of the price you will be paying.
What I don't understand is how you make this partly the seller's fault? It isn't, it's entirely yours.0 -
I believe my point though is still valid. If this was someone doing it to you there would be a post on here about non paying buyers not reading the Ts & Cs etc etc coupled with loads of moaning.
You bid on it and you didn't read it correctly - tough !
Pay him and complete the transaction - sellers don't deserve to be mucked about like this. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

There is a big difference between the seller and myself - I am honest.
I would never sell any item for a false price (which I believe has happened), and then try to get my money back by falsely inflating an additional charge - in this case the postage.
I am a prompt payer, but in this case I am dealing with a dishonest seller, who is basically committing fraud.0 -
We all make mistakes - but perhaps on this occasion the seller would be in the right to give you a strike, albeit that you could also give him several.
Take it on the chin and move on. As long as you don't make any more mistakes, then you'll be fine."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

You bid without checking the postage - caveat emptor !
I am not calling you into reason but if you bid then you should pay.
How much would it cost to post from Mumbai ?
Have you got a link to the listing ? I would be intrigued to read it.Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

There is no fraud here either. The postage is clearly displayed. You are wriggling about looking for a scapegoat. Ignore the seller and take the strike if it happens. Then ring ebay and tell them the whole story. They will probably remove the strike.0 -

Where he has a point is that the seller is selling these at various shipping costs which makes it obvious he is loading the postage to sell at 99p start price."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

It is a point but is really not a valid one.
The cricket bat was put up at 99p with a postage amount clearly stated (which does not seem excessive in my opinion - but beside the point).
The OP committed to a purchase and wants to back out. The seller appears to be letting him do this but wants him to give good feedback rather than slander him as he has done on this board - seems eminently sensible to me...0
