I have made a BIG mistake!

I have just bid on an item on ebay, and won it.
All very well you may say but.
It was a cricket bat, and it had a low price of 99p, so I won it for £1.04. The only problem is, that I did not notice the carriage costs - £29 :eek::eek:
The item is being sent from Mumbai India, which worries me even more.
Is there any way I can get out of paying for this item (I have just been invoiced), or do I have to go ahead with it?
I fully acknowledge that I have made a mistake, one of the reasons being that the auction was ending 3 minutes from when I first saw it (no excuse I know), but I cannot remember seeing the carriage costs clearly laid out.
Please help, as I feel a bit sick right now.:o

Unfortunately legally speaking the seller is outside the EU and even if he is a business he doesn't have to give you a cooling off period in which to change your mind. Since it was an auction if it was a British business seller, the DSR cooling off period doesn't necessarily apply to auctions either.

It might tbh cost that to send a bat from Mumbai to Britain.

All I can suggest is you write a polite, grovelly email to the seller and see whether he is happy to cancel. I'd let you - no point in forcing someone to pay who has changed their mind - but I obviously can't speak for him.

Tell them you wanted 20 of them at that price but couldnt see how to do that many. If he wants more postage charges, get him to justify them and then offer to pay for your own DHL collection. He'll soon lose interest in your original bat.

It might help your game getting a bat from India as it is closer to Pakistan and some of that skill / talent / luck might have rubbed off.

It could be a winning bat and worth every penny.

What, you think India has no cricket team?
OP, you really feel sick over this?

Of course India has a cricket team, are they better then Pakistan then ? (honest question cos I only seem to see Pakistan beating all comers)

  • Easy solution, just pay for the bat and tell him not to bother posting it!

    Indeed and I stand corrected.

Why is it then that all the talk around cricket is always geared to Pakistan then ?
