Bit of a smattering of snow this morning, but the main roads are fine.We couldnt get out of our steep drive-the car kept sliding back, when I remembered the bag of salt I bought .It used it all up,but we got out,and DS2 has bought some rock salt now for future use.

I went into town for a mooch, and to go on the market.I got DN the books she mentioned for Christmas, just need the name of the DVD she fancies off my DB and thats that sorted.

Got some veg,and some nice salmon for tea from the market, and 2 more lots of fabric.I'm having a day off sewing though as my back is aching.Still not finished making my cards and we got our 1st one today.

Had the chicken broth for our lunch,it had gone nice and thick as I put half a soup mix in.Plenty left too.

Take care everyone, try and keep warm.xxx

Loulou, I still get like that and its almost 20 years since my dad passed and over 5 years since my mum passed. I know lots of people have probably said it, but it DOES get a bit easier after 12 months, you have got one of every occasion under your belt.

Just wanted to say that there hasn't been very much snow on my bit of the Lancashire coast thank goodness and WARNING - PROUD MUM MOMENT! tomorrow I'm off to London for my DS2's graduation :D

We also have a shiny new combi boiler gurgling happily, and a warm house & lashings of hot water.....British Gas eventually agreed to replace the dead one last week :)

PP Good to hear from you, good luck for your DD's mocks.

Must go & heat up my alphabetti spaghetti :o (I tend to eat simply when I'm home alone :p) before I sort out my stuff for tomorrow and charge my ipod & phone. Oh and find a good book for the hours I will be on the train!

Evening everyone, snowed again overnight but school still open, we were just one member of staff down today, 2 were late as they decided to get the bus (the same one) to save bringing cars and the bus got stuck in the snow!! Had to keep the children in today as yesterday afternoon the classrooms looked like wishy washy's laundry! Head Teacher being very good and making everyone leave at 3pm just after the children leave.

Collected big car today complete with MOT, just need to work out how to get the other one back. Have a friend who passes here in the morning so may ask her for a lift and then i can bring the other car back tomorrow. Dreading the bill.

DS1 has gone to do some sea trials with work so at least he doesn't have to cope with the roads. Bet its cold out at sea though. DD informs me that it is 30 degrees where she is in Oz and wants me to send photos of the snow as loads of folk in the school she is working in have never seen snow before! Would quite happily send it to them.

Washing drying on the airer by the fire but apart from that not much OS going on, may dig out the christmas cards and make a start but it's cold where they are kept!

    Congrats to Katie & Tom.
Enjoy the Graduation Floss, went to DS2s in the summer and it was a fab day and made me a very proud Mum, hope you are too.
    Hugs to you Loulou.

Keep safe and warm everyone, take care. XX
  • It is BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR degrees out there, we got another four or five inches today, and its starting to freeze a little. Big son has a fat lip, because little son hit him with a giant snowball, and he bit his lip when it smacked him in the face! :o Other than that, they've not been too bad, Coco has had a riot, and has had a white face all day :D She loves it, and is full of beans, having said that, she is almost up to her shoulders in it, :rotfl: Just as well she isn't white, or she'd be lost.

Congratulations to Katie and Tom - isn't there a famous couple with those names?
    Have a great trip Floss!

Hope everyone has stayed safe today.xxx

Well we have snow too, rather a lot actually.

Went to work this morning wearing: socks, leggings, knee high socks over leggings, trousers over the top, and.....great thing about losing 2 stone, you can fit a jacket under last years winter coat:D so jacket, coat, hat and scarf, 2 pairs of gloves and when the snow came down hard I could put hood from the jacket up. Was nice and toasty walking to work, took me 45 mins though, only usually takes me about 20 mins. Oh and I bought some lovely wellie socks today, fleece ones that fold over the top of the wellies. Got them on the way to work, went in shop and said I neeeeeeed wellie socks my feet are frozen lol

OH came back tonight, we went for tea in pub so not a lot of OS going on here, did do swish and swipe before work, but kept running to the window to see how bad it was getting

Hope you are all warm and snug tonight, cyas soon xxx

  • Hi Again

DD's mock Math exam was cancelled and luckily she doesn't have any exams tomorrow. I bet your bottom dollar that the re-sit will be when we're away!

It has been snowing non-stop today and is about 6 inches deep now and still falling. My knees, feet and hands are so cold and I have gloves on, long johns and support stockings with thermal socks over the top:eek::eek::eek:

We have had the chilli, rice and wraps for dinner but we're peckish:o...so OH is making pizza toast with ham, cheese, pineapple and jalapeños!!...yummy!! Have gone through 3 flasks of water today to save putting the kettle on every 15 minutes. Sausages out for toad in the hole tomorrow. DD baked some great cupcakes today with custard powder included and they are delish.

I have booked a courier for tomorrow to collect something I sold on Ebay, but we will see how the weather goes.

Congrats JackieO and hugs to everyone.

DH got home safely :j- needed towing a few times and is not looking forward to tomorrow. He couldn't make it to some of the customers, just wasn't worth risking it.

hope everyone's well. back to work tomorrow.

    Evening,
We too have had about 6inches of snow and all trains and buses for the village have been cancelled so we are officially snowed in. DS is delighted, DD1 not, she is staying at a friends in town so that she can get to work but is worried that she may not get to see new bf as his village is also cut off :(
Managed to get the men to completely declutter the dining room, took out the pc and all its paraphenalia, moved all the reference books upstairs so now I have a crafting area all for my own :D just need to get a daylight bulb for my lamp and I'm sorted, can also use the dining table and they managed to fit in my cosy chair by the window so I can watch the birds:T Whilst they did the heavy stuff I managed to set up the printer to work by wifi, (something DP has been unable to do) so all in all a very productive day. Oh & after all that I fell asleep on the sofa & DP made a spicey sausage pasta for tea :A
Hope everyone is keeping safe & warm

  • Evening everyone

we have snow, been out this afternoon with ds2, made a snowman and had a snowball fight. We were out till it went dark.

I've been MIA again, was up north taking ds2 to see his dad, we went by train this time, much better. Took my knitting with me, managed a bit.

Os today - not much really dw was put on this morning, made sausage casserole in sc, sorted out dry washing(only iron if necessary) and put away. Took pup out for a long walk in the snow, he loved it.

Need to do a major clean & tidy as my parents are coming to stay for the weekend to watch ds2 so I can go out on my birthday. Can't have them thinking it's a tip. It's not too bad just ds2 messy room to sort yet again

Npm - can't believe it is only a week till your wedding.
