Afternoon All :santa2:
It's snowing!!! Well a little bit anyway. Woke up to about 1-2cm this morning and it's been snowing pretty much all day but not really settling. Feels a little warmer today so I guess that's why. Apparently we're going to get snow on and off for the next few days, only hoping it doesn't stop me going to the Clothes Show on Saturday, I've been waiting all year for it!
Hope all with the snow are coping ok and keeping warm :grouphug:
Congrats to your DGD JackieO. I was young (18) when my OH (who was 23 at the time) and I got engaged and at the grand age of 23 and 27 now we're still not married! We'll do it soon but we're quite laid back about it! Think my Mum's getting a little impatient though she's been saving up for it for 5 years! :rotfl:
Hopefully a nice easy afternoon at work, just have to do some data entry so nothing too taxing! OH is taking me into uni tonight as I'm carless and only have to go in for a 20 minute meeting with my tutor, so he'll sit in the car park with a book and wait for me.
Have a great afternoon all, wrap up and keep safe!0 -
Afternoon all,
Hope i find you all well.
Havent posted for a while but have been lurking quietly
Snow has arrived!! Not enough to close the schools just yet but enough to freeze my bathroom pipes downstairs  so i have to put the heating on...and leave it on for a few hours :mad: to use the shower. I rent so i've told landlord, hes coming to have a look tomorrow. Apparently theres more snow on the way too.
Did a 'panic' shop sat (for my own peace of mind not because i think i'll run low) i dont wanna drag DD out unless i absolutely have to. Pet food, bread, milk, frozen and fresh veg, pasta, tinned toms-you know the store cupboard must haves. Have a wonderfully full kitchen but you never know!! and nothing will go to waste.
Got some potatoes need using up so off to make a cottage pie for the freezer...will roast some wilting veggies for a soup too,see good use of energy by me!! DD has requested bangers and mash with broccoli for tea...no waste :T
Bigs hugs if needed keep warm and cheerful.
Ps about the pet food,if anyone feeds their cats Iams i found 3kg for £9.99 in Do It All rather than £14 at supermarket! this will last my 2 a couple of months!!Emergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000
Savings Pot £1,440.00

I have been wrapping Christmas pressies and just discovered that the dvd I bought for youngest DGD has vanished and I can't find the blessed thing. Will have to get DD on the case she's brilliant at finding things .Still coming down in bucket loads here .Hope it clears by Saturday I'm off to Lille for the day with Dd for some retail therapy, fingers crossed
Keep wrapped up warm everyone I have a sneezy cold at the moment so I'm dosing myself up with 2 paracetamols every four hours and lots of hot drinks .best way I know to get rid of a cold ,cheap as chips and no expensive nightnurse stuff.

Hi, sorry to hear about your back, I had a badly prolapsed disc and tried physio but in the end the disc ruptured and I had to have surgery. It wasn't pleasant, but it certainly transformed my life - being free of constant sciatica and pain was wonderful. I'm in my early 40's now, and had the op over 10 years ago, and apart from the odd time when I freeze up for a few days (usually only once or twice a year, and more often than not a result of over-doing it!) I've been ok (touch wood). Obviously, I'm never going to win any medals in gymnastics,
and yes, my back is probably a bit stiffer than it would have been, I'm certainly not a bendy wendy, but all in all, I would still have the op and be free from pain.
Hopefully it won't come to that for you, and the physio will work, but if it doesn't, don't be too scared to go under the knife, because its not all that bad (my next door neighbour had to have her back done 2 years ago, and she's in her 60's, and made a pretty swift recovery too).
In the meantime, keep warm, gentle (very gentle) exercises and see how you go, will keep my fingers crossed for you
Sorry to everyone else for going off topic........:o
Hope you're all keeping warm and wellDebts at their highest: £37,500

Hello to all OS'ers
I haven't been on here for some time, but have been reading regularly. Glad to see so many familiar names still here.
Just thought I would share this with you all as I don't know anybody else who would understand.....
We woke to heavy snow here in Essex this morning. While DD was listening out for school closures my first thought was 'please don't close our school - I don't want to stay at home as I'll have to pay to put the heating on at home!!!!!':o

:T:T:rotfl:I have been at home all day, and kept myself really busy rather than putting the heating on !! have just put the living room fire on, don't like heating the whole house just for me !!0 -
good day to all! its gone dark here now but no snow--infact its getting warmer --plus 23 degrees and sunny--silly temperature for almost Dec even for here! last year at this time it was about 12 degrees because i looked at my gas bill from then!--i had my gas bill at the weekend and it totalled 4,50 for 30 days usage--i only had the heating on 3 times--the electric bill is 30 quid a month at this time of year but doesnt alter much!--you are being ripped off for gas at per sq metre rate though-the state controls prices here and negotiates with neighbouring gas producing countries!
its been a quiet time and work is as normal--Mrs De has forgiven me today for my last rant about money! she is back on diet and following a site i used with great success earlier in the year--she poo pooed me using it at the time--she calls me obsessive but i know how to get results!-2 stone in 7 months!
enjoy your snowball battles but keep warm! gxxmfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Afternoon all
well its freezing, several inches deep and its just starting to snow yet again here.
I am supposed to be flying over to Ireland to visit my sister on friday morning for a long weekend but think if the forecasts are right, that I would be better of not going and leaving it till spring. She is coming back to England for Christmas anyway, so seems a little fool hardy to risk it. I will see how things go over the next couple of days - the airport has cancelled lots of flights over the past few days and others have been delayed, so I will be keeping my eye on the weather reports. The flights were only £5 each way so I would not have lost a great deal.
Work was not as busy as usual, as Patients were not wanting to come out for non emergencies. Gives us chance to catch up with the ever increasing paperwork.
Tea is stew (made last evening as I like it second day best when it thickens more) with dumplings, so OH will be delighted:D Want to get on with another scarf tonight, have wrapped the others I have knitted as stocking fillers for DD's and friends.
Keep warm all
x"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"
Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D

Thank you to all who have replied regarding my back. If the sciatica does keep returning I will def have the operation. I cannot believe the pain that it has caused down my leg and into the foot. The Doc said that the leg pain is usually reported to be more painful than the back pain and it is! I do feel like it is easing now, so stepping up the activities without overdoing it.
Thank you, I appreciate your concern.
