morning folks, Happy St Andrews day to all, weather has not improved much here, about another inch of snow overnight to add to the eight inches that we have already:( so will be walking to work today, the temperature is about minus 2 just now but the windchill makes it a lot colder.
Must get organised for christmas tomorrow, as taking a day off that I should have had yesterday. Not much else happening, not even sure what we will have for tea this evening - will be something grabbed out of the freezer.
Have a good day, take care and keep cosy, hugs to all that need themEvery days a School day!0 -
Morning all
More snow on top of the ice/snow we had yesterday, so the roads are really slippery. Forecast is for heavy snowfall here today, will have to wait and see.
DH up and off to work early but not stupid early so bought me a cup of coffee before he left.
My work have changed all the staff round so that staff local to an office are able to work at that office and not have to travel elsewhere, so I don't have to travel to other office which is where I should be today.
Dinner last night was steak pie, chips and beans for DH, DS1 and DS2. Dinner for me was fish, new pots and veg. Tonights dinner will be quick dinner for boys as DS1 has Cadets (if it's not cancelled due to snow), DH and I will have egg, bacon, LO mash etc, don't want to throw anything away.
Work was actually quite busy yesterday considering the weather wasn't that good, but think today will be slower as lots of people said they were doing things yesterday so they didn't have to come out today!
Need to go and get ready for work.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning All!!!
Happy St Andrew's Day! We've had more snow overnight, there must be almost a foot by now! Eeek. I am going to battle my way out of the driveway and out today, I have arranged to go shopping with my lovely sister.
Really need to get moving with the shopping, although I am glad I haven't done much as DS2 rewrote his letter to Santa yesterday and it looks very different, fickle boy!
OS this morning I stripped our bed this morning and its in the machine, I will stick a spag bol in the SC shortly, and that's about it until I get home.
I'm taking a hot water bottle, flask and blanket with me, in addition to my car box, just in case!!
Good luck to missRR for her mocks, and please take care out there everyone.
Hugs spoons and hi fives all round.

Happy St Andrews Day!
We had quite a lot of snow overnight but the roads are clear thankfully. We are surrounded by lots of villages and countryside and are in the Chilterns so no telling if the country roads have been gritted - probably not.
Schools here are all open so DS not happy, he would rather stay in bed.
Don't know whether we are still going to Hemel until DH comes home. Shame because I really want to get the present shopping finished.
Jaxx ....I haven't forgotten about the pattern - I will try to get that done today x
Well I am off to scream at DS some more
Keep warm and most of all safe everyone xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Good Morning all, well the white stuff has got here at last and pretty as it looks I hate the stuff as walking is very hard for me with a stick.Just waiting to see if the schools are open or not , if not I shall keep warm indoors .
nice bright piece of news last night DGD Katie got engaged last night.Tom ,her boyfriend asked her Dad on Saturday night and her Mum on Sunday ,so I knew in advance but had to keep quiet until he had asked her last night. She phoned me up very excited, she is quite young (Almost 18) but apparently it will be several years before they get married .Gives me time to save some pennies up at least. He is a nice lad, and loves the bones off her. Doesn't seem five minutes since she was born.
Hope everyone is wrapped up warmly this morning as its a chilly one.
Take care all

Good morning and Happy St Andrews Day
We had more snow last night, logged on to find that the older 2 DS's school is closed so they have retreated back to their rooms. Youngest sons school is open but is officially opening at 10am so no need to rush quite so much.
Results from mri show that I have a prolapsed disc, so will be taking it steady from now on - no more lifting heavy stuff and prolonged periods of gardening - got to look after my back or will need an op.
Please take care if you need to go out today.

Morning Guys!
I'm sending this from bed as I'm not good today. Nurse should be here soon. OH has to go out, but has made me a packed lunch, hot water bottle, flask (small) and bottle of water. DD is here till he comes back anyway as she has her mock GCSE's this week and next. She is still asleep as its a luxury of a lie in as she is normally gone by 7.30 each morning.
It has snowed here and still falling a little. Very cold. OH has bought the little convector into our room and although the rads are on, its still a little nippy for me.
Managed to sell £250 worth of stuff on friends account last week and have another few items on this week too. It all helps and is just stuff in the cupboards. Also freecycled some bits.
I have bought the dog a new flashing collar as I cant see him in the dark as he blends in with the black fleece on the sofa and darkness. He's not going to like it, but saves him being splattered by us!
The chicken stew and herby dumplings turned out well. OH took 3 portions to his mums to freeze and used some of the value mixed veg from MrS at 31p for 1kg. I was very impressed with it and included carrots, cauli, swede, peas and Brockie all in small pieces...so great for a stew! Also had soaked overnight a broth mix of barley, lentils etc, so hey went in with an onion, chicken, parsnips a few left over new pots and then made some dumplings and added mixed herbs and seasoning. Found a colemans sachet too and it was lovely. I coated the thighs in flour and fried in a little oil before putting in the SC and was much better...so thanks for the suggestion. The chicken was from Ocado and said 7 thighs inc but there were actually 9 good sized ones.
Our friends baby's funeral is next week, but I honestly dont think I can make it. We have offered to have the other children, so feel like we are helping. I have an art box here for them and thought we could draw some nice pictures and give them to their mum and dad. I am a firm believer in letting kids express themselves and answering any questions they have honestly but kindly.
I cant believe my DD is taking her mocks! Where has the time gone? Do you know she is 16 next month:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:.....i'm SOOO old!! Her and boyfriend relationship is developing nicely and he is a lovely sweet lad. They went to see Paramore a few weeks ago and have a lot of plans for the future. OH and I met at 13/14, so I know although not often, true love does last.
Anyway, I waffling too much and apologise for the HUGE post.
Keep warm and safe today.
Hugs
PP

Morning everyone
Just a little more snow here in S Cumbria overnight but weirdly the last of the leaves on the oak tree have come down on top of it so it doesnt look very pretty. Must have been a cold night and the leaves just gave up the fight !
Packing up to return home though we have a last day house clearing to do - hope the charity van can get through to pick up the (many) bags !
Quick pasta for dinner tonight if we get back home in one piece - fingers crossed it will be straight down the M6 to Cheshire before it gets dark.
Then I have lots of OS'ing next few days - loads washing, cleaning, and Xmas prep.
Stay warm and safe whatever you choose to do today.

PP - good luck to your DD and also to Redrubys DD and anyone else doing mocks!
PP - hope you manage to stay nice and snug in bed x x
DH just text me and he's stuck on a bank in the middle of the countryside so unless he gets a tow he'll have to give up. He hates letting his customers down but his little van isn't 4 wheel drive . He's having a coffee from his flask and deciding what to do.
Seems like some areas around here have it worse than we do - main roads ok but its the country lanes that are hazardous and I've heard of an overturned car not too far away on the news.
Dogs and birdies(and ferret) all fed and watered.
Our town has its famous Holly and Mistletoe sales starting today - just up the road from me - it'll be on the Midland news tonight! - id I dont go shopping I'll take a walk up there for a nosey!:)
Pollys - my DH has got 2 prolapsed discs in his lower back. There's not a lot they can do, he just has to be sensible. He had to be on permanent painkillers but he manages to work ok with it.Do what you love :happyhear0
