I was going to make mince pies today but got told it was too early :(
That's silly - it's December now, so perfectly acceptable.

What was too early was 6th September, which is when we started making/selling them at work

Many Happy (if slightly belated) Returns to SF

And NSD #4 for me please Spoon :T

Doubt tomorrow will be though..... not only do I have the lure of the Whoopsied cakes (if there are still some left as I leave work), but it's also an extra discount day at work and there are a couple of offers have been tempting me for the last couple of weeks (on things for lunches, so not an issue with freezers full of main meal bits ;))

Jinty I feel your pain re. bosses. Yesterday we were advised to continue home visits in 2s!!!! (And right now Alex Salmond is having to defend why "he got it wrong" and Scotland was "taken by surprise".) Yet the two teirs above us (I'm community services, so above us is specialist services and senior management) were sent home.:mad::mad:

    Harrumph!

Dont get me started re bosses and weather
I took matters into my own hands and up and left at 4.25 today.I thought stuff it, I aint struggling home later than I need to. Got home at 6, picked up doglet from Mums - she had a big plate of HM soup ready for me, bless her, it was fab!:)
Well done Spoon on your six in a row!:T I'm declaring #5 today, had one essential spend though, had to buy a small pack of tissues as me nose was running like a tap!
Heading to bed shortly with HW bottle and a cuppa - feel very tired tonight.
SF - hope you had a lovely birthday, and IF thanks for the cartoons, they really make me smile.
Keiss, great photos, thanks for posting them, love the curtain!:)

I'm very close to xcape and there were no busses running in that direction today. The trains are running though so you can get to Glasgow and could then get to Cardonald station.

My work base is in that vicinity, so we should be getting regular updates on the bus routes, so I'll let you know if it improves. But I wouldn't advise driving it at the moment; it's still quite chaotic, with cars abandoned all over the place and the cars that were driving were slipping and wheel-spinnning all over the place today. Walking was quicker!

Hmm how very strange - It was me that had said that originally :rotfl:. I would very much appreciate it if you could keep me up to date on the weather as we were planning on driving through and my Dad is convinced that the weather will be fine by then (the weather report keeps saying that the temp will be up on Thursday but we're planning on leaving about 7.30 in the morning :o). On the plus side I havent told DS so if it doesnt happen then no big disaster - what would be a disaster would be getting stuck in the car for ages!!! I am pretty sure the 3 people I know of turned back at the Helensburgh roundabout.......................stupid weather

Anyway today was as suspected a spendy day but I will be back tomorrow with a NSD (hopefully :D)

Beanie glad it made you laugh......I know what you mean about the little girls room, if I know I can't go....I want to go even more!!! That'll teach me for laughing at my Mum in the past!!:rotfl:
I actually blame parents for inducing a 'OMG I can't go and now I need to' from always asking kids 'do you want to go to the toilet? I think you should go to the toilet, you won't be able to once we're in the car/on the bus/etc etc' I'm fine until I'm somewhere I can't go, and then as soon as I can't I desparatly need to (Oh I could share some stories but...:o:o:o)

Happy B'Day for yesterday SF :)
Peaches - how lovely of your OH to treat you to a break away, try not to worry about Isobelle (easier said than done of course) but it will be lovely for OH family to spend some time with her, and I am sure it will do her good to spend some time with some new faces.

Sorry to hear some of you are really struggling with the carp weather atm - there's no snow down here atm but I'm sure it's imminent.

Can declare a NSD #3 Spoony - no kippers for me so far :j:jHad the day off work today and went to see HP with OH, but he treated me (which was very nice of him given I was also forcing him to sit through HP :rotfl:). I've also just seen that there is 'Bagpuss the play' on in London in Jan.....which was my FAV ever programme as a child, poor OH looked mortified at the fact I want to go but has agreed to come with me....isn't he lovely :)

3Dogs try your mam with jellies, if she likes them. They can be good for dry mouth. Also ask what the policy is on mouth swabs. Some palces will use them, some won't. They basically cleanse the mouth and keep it moist. Not everywhere will use them in case patients bite down on them, but they can be great for keeping the mouth moist. And also use plenty vaseline around the lips to lock in the moisture and stop the lips from cracking - if your mam likes vaseline (I hate the stuff on my lips!).

Thanks ever so much Nicca for the tips - you're a star - I did think of PMing you but did not get round to it - hate bothering people :o
