Wish I could report a nsd but it was never going to happen. DD who is going through a break up with her partner of 8 years asked me if I would look after my almost 4 year old grandson from 1pm till 9pm today whilst she goes to college. Cue £3 spend on the local soft play centre, a tub of olives and feta (I have a grandson with refined taste) and a pack of milky bar buttons.
So decided to do my shopping today too. Came home with some puff pastry and used the bits off the chicken from making stock the other day and some ham offcuts to make chicken and ham pie. Grandson cut out and put his name on the top too. A totally lovely but spendy day.
Back to work tomorrow if the weather permits.
Have a good one all and keep warm0 -
Number 1 today.
Yesterday was a spent day with dentist (damned under gum cavity which got found out, it is going to be costing another visit to complete the crown process) so decided to pop into T3sc0 for the 2 for £25 on spirits for a few presents. Now busily wrapping and doing for the first time hampers (quite happy with the results, I am wrapping everything though and very time consuming; need to find some cheap cellophane as well; 1 roll is only doing 2 hampers which is not cost effective).
Tomorrow off to London; won entry for Taste of Christmas and need to get my travelcard done all in time for Monday and the new job.MFW on your mark0 -
Well, I'm getting extremely fed up with the white stuff, it's SO deep here and just keeps coming!
Tried to do my neighbourly bit today - I knocked on the door of an older couple in my street whom I dont know well, but I often speak to in passing, just to see if they were ok/ needed anything. They looked at me as if I was mad and and were a bit nippy with me.:( I apologised and said I didnt mean to be intrusive, but in view of the fact we are snowbound here, I was only offering help with shopping etc. "No, we are perfectly capable of getting out and about, we're not that old, was the retort." Felt really embarrassed actually.:o I just thought I'd ask as I'd hate my Mum & Dad to be stuck without help in these conditions.
Sorry for the rant!;)Waves back to jinty
Im bored bored bored of it too.
Day 6 today.
That couple weew well out of order IMHO.
Dont let it put you off asking someomne else.
Yah to Chrimbo cards~I cant even motivate myself to do that
((((hugs)))) to you both, it's horrible being housebound, I really feel for you both. Jinty, beanie is right, that was really rude of your neighbours, even if they don't need the help there's no need to be like that.. pah... people are so odd sometimes:(:(
Take care

Jinty and Beanie, fed up of this white stuff too!!! Poor doglees snow is up to their tummy's!!
Love that cartoon, if, it needs a viewing on another page.
Think we're all fed up of the snow now (at least, those of us who've had to put up with it for a few days anyway). xThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Well, you've met another one here.....
They're yummy scrummy things
At Christmas I have them stoned, then stuffed with marzipan (which gets rolled into a sausage shape and then in hundred and thousands before being cut into 'date length' pieces and being inserted).
The rest of the year I just tend to have them 'as is' with cheese and biscuits or just 'as is' as a fruit. I'm also rather partial to the Date and Walnut bread they do at work, and plan to try a recipe for Date & Walnut cake next year (if I can find it again!)
My Mum's parents introduced us to the blocks of pressed dates as young children - whenever we went over for Sunday lunch they always came out with the cheese and biscuits afterwards
Ooops, sorry Cheryl:o I like the idea of marzipan with them that sounds interesting, might even try that. Never thought about them with cheese and biscuits, actually, they'd make an alternative to grapes. You might even have convinced me to buy some and give them a try.

need to find some cheap cellophane as well; 1 roll is only doing 2 hampers which is not cost effectiveHave you tried asking a local florist if you can buy some off them? I'm sure I've heard of people doing this before.....
Good idea, Cheryl.
Karom, not sure what you're wrapping the items with but tissue paper loosely wrapped around them may be quicker and if you could get a contrasting colour to the cellophane it would look really effective. Florists have coloured tissue paper as well, maybe you could get some there as well?
Whatever you decide, happy wrapping and glad you're pleased with them:jThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

I've been a busy bee the last few days, so I hadn't got round to joining the thread, but I'm now up to speed after what seems like hours catching up and reading the last 6 pages! Wow!
Anyway, hello to all the regulars and welcome to the newbies, and of course - congrats too to Peaches with Isobelle!
Spoon - this month I'd like to pledge my lucky 19 NSDs again please, and I'll go for my regular 6 NSDs in a row in the mini challenge.
So far, I've clocked up 1 NSD, that was yesterday; and fingers crossed that I'll clock up another 1 today!
Good luck for the month everyone - take care and wrap up warm!

I did manage to get the car dug out today, with my brother doing the shovelling, so I took my sister, neice and her oldest girl to the care hame to see mam. It's only the 200 yds of Mam's street that is a problem as from there the main roads were clear, though ice would be a problem now
Mam was cheerful and, again, ate a whole full size Magnum :j - she loved seeing her greatgrand-daughter too :T
Hi 3Dogs
Glad you got to see your mum today, must have been a relief to see her in good spirits. I'm sure seeing her great granddaughter really cheered her up:D
Take care ((((hugs)))) to you and all your family
