They do, but they don't work so well with big chunks of snow or ice.0 -

It may surprise you to learn that they actually do, they are called windscreen wipers ( sarcasm ), but alas, they cannot cope with a large chunk of snow sliding down from the roof and effectively blinding the driver.
They tend to blow fuses or snap off under the weight of it.
All of this hassle because the driver is too bone idle to sweep it off.0 -

Mine do - they work fine to clear any snow that falls forward from the roof. However, never had big chunks of ice on my car roof, so can't comment on their ability in that situation.
Only thing they don't do too well with is an overnight coating of frost which I clear manually with scraper/deicer before setting off.
Dont get me wrong - I'm not defending or condoning those who drive with loads of snow on their car roof - I myself will clear anything over an inch or two of snow from the roof.
But I'm also not going to start having a go at others who dont either, when there are quite a few motorists on the road who don't even bother about even clearing their car windows before hitting the roads, and seem to think a porthole scraped in the front windscreen is adequate.0 -

tell that to the bloke that had a foot of snow come down on their windscreen when they slowed down, completely covering their windscreen.
or the muppet in our works car park who hadnt cleared his espace and all the snow on the roof came down and blocked his path. he needed to clear the path with a shovel as there was so much snow and he couldnt reverse out of it either as they had ploughed the snow and he had reversed right up to it.:rotfl:0 -

I have seen a wiper snap off at the mounting from the weight off a pile of snow coming of the roof. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
