    i may be wrong here but dont dvla want the new insurance certificate nowadays before they will issue a new tax disc and mot with the new registration on.

    or did you not do this either
    need to have a lightbulb moment

    DVLA don't usually need to see certificates - they can check electronically. I think the answer to your question is no, because you wouln't change the plate with the insurance company until you'd had the paperwork through from the DVLA to say you can officially change the plates over. And the DVLA would be able to see that the car against the old reg number has insurance electronically as I said.

    Im guessing the OP hasnt needed to retax the car since getting the new plate.
    however it raises some points.
    that would mean the car had a tax disc and MOT showing the wrong details
    so as the car stands it isnt showing tax,mot or insurance on the reg plate it is displaying?

    If the car is on finance they should have been told about the change of plate too (and they usually charge to make the change)
