Thanks for the info, and taking the time to respond:T Now then, there seems to be a healthy interest in my local library, it is situated halfway down the kings road in chelsea, opposite the cinema, i believe it is a listed building and is architecturally quite striking, the hours of opening are as follows-mon-fri 10am-7pm, sat 10am-3pm, i retain my library card as i was only made homeless 4 weeks ago, due to relapse after 5 years sobriety, the events that bought me to my current situation, i would rather not talk about at this time, suffice to say they were traumatic and i was weak, yes i am a waster, as loopy girl so elequently points out, yes, while i'm drinking i'm a crap excuse for a human being, but it has not always been the case, as we speak i have been assessed for treatment in a detoxification unit, and hope to be admitted next week, anyway happy christmas to one and all:j
    Hi,

I am immediately struck by how educated, articulate and intelligent you are. Have you considered doing some volunteering to help you have a focus in life, and to begin to make good use of that excellent brain that you obviously have? When you next get online, check ou the thoughts of John Bird, founder of the Big Issue. He too is an intelligent guy who had troubles, and he has very strong views on many subjecys. I hink you'll find them interesting, and it strikes me that you are intelligent enough to enjoy a good debate, even if you don't agree with it all!
Don't let the miserable judgemental Scrooge Characters put you off this site - There is support and friendliness on here, honestly!
To all those of you being so judgemental - SHAME ON YOU!!!! We have no idea of the hows and whys and whens, just that DB came on here for a bit of human support - and you're even questioning how (or even IF) he has got a library card !!!!!!????
Speak soon DB, PM me if you want.

So they must have opened especially for you on Sunday night?

And it was open until after 10pm as well?

The folks round there must pay a whopping amount of council tax for such a sterling service;)

Thank you so much for your kind words, i have in fact worked on a voluntary basis for an organisation called the simon community, which is a charitable organisation helping homeless people, i did this during my 5 year period of sobriety, at other times over the last 20 years, i have worked in night shelters set up by the salvation army to run through the christmas period, similar to the crisis at christmas project, i fully intend to pursue this type of work once i get back on my feet again, yes i am aware of john bird and i'll pop along to his website, if only to get away from some of the vitriol and cynisism, spouted by some of the posters on here, still thanks again:T

Am assuming your MH issues are related to your alcoholism. Maybe if you addressed your addiction (or as you one of these people that think it's an 'illness') then you could turn your life around.

So I'll save my sympathy for people who truly deserve it and don't bring their problems on themselves.

Loopy Girl your comments disgust me!!!!! You clearly know nothing about addiction, I'm glad your life is so perfect!!! Let's hope you never need any support in the future? Lat's hope this never happens to your Mother/Father/Brother/Sister/Son/Daughter!!!

OP I wish you all the best in sorting out your predicament, I feel most of the useful infomation has already been posted for you. Good Luck :-) xx

My life is far from perfect but I make no apology that I don't conform to the fuzzy wuzzy pat on the head if you have a self inflicted addiction (as I do, to cigarettes...do you think I can get DLA and IB since I 'can't/won't work'?)

I think a fuzzy wuzzy pat on the head from you, would be akin to a good smack on the bonce with a mallet, i'll pass if you don't mind:rotfl:

Also try giving up fags for 24 hours, see how it makes you feel, then times it by a thousand, just to give you some measure of understanding, of what us self inflicted addicts go through
