Can we just stick to answering questions around the resolution of the OPs problems rather than breaching etiquette and scaring away those seeking help? It's sub zero out there at the moment. There's nothing unusual about people suffering from long term health issues, nor long term benefit claims relating to it.

Please be nice to all MoneySavers : There's no such thing as a stupid question and, even if you disagree, courtesy helps.
Please be sensitive : This may be a web forum, but you’re still talking to other human beings. Repeatedly or harshly saying someone’s wrong, especially on boards like DebtFreeWannabe, Bankruptcy or Benefits, can lead to upset.
Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue...

We’re proud that many people whose financial problems exacerbate mental health issues seek help in the forum, but this means you may be berating someone who’s clinically depressed. Please think twice before posting judgmental comments

He's not asking for help for any of his 'problems'.

By his own admission he is just on for a whine as he feels hard done by. The solution to ALL his problems is glaringly obvious but I feel it will be met with hostility/million and one reasons why not to

Don't forget to tell the OP to apply for DLA...bound to be 'care' needs there as well I should imagine.

EDIT - he's already getting it

Maybe less 'tippling' would get you a roof over your head

Am assuming your MH issues are related to your alcoholism. Maybe if you addressed your addiction (or as you one of these people that think it's an 'illness') then you could turn your life around.

So I'll save my sympathy for people who truly deserve it and don't bring their problems on themselves.
Whoops, spoke too soon there, faiths gone down the swanee, cheers loopy:(

Well, assuming you are serious about your first post, then I would be very interested in how you get on. I saw some leaflets for Crisis a week or two ago and was impressed with their aims of helping people try so I would guess they would have the experience needed for your situation. And even if it does not fully work out for you, your getting involved with them may help other people in your situation in the future.

Even you setting up this thread may spur someone on to volunteer http://www.crisis.org.uk/pages/volunteering-at-crisis-christmas-2009.html
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
