The race to be in for Christmas!

Hi everyone, haven't been here for quite a few days but for a few days back there, I really couldn't face the whole house thing...
Dkny, looks like we are still pretty much neck-to-neck in our race to get into our new house! Last week was a bad week, meant to exchange on Friday but found out on that day that our vendor's solicitors have not responded to three outstanding queries from 30 October! And it's only then that my solicitor voiced her concerns about their lack of response!
Anyway, one of the issues is a rights of way issue and on Tuesday, our vendor finally located the document and sent it off to the land registry to get the boundaries corrected. Yesterday, our solicitor told us that unless she sees planning documents for the development (which our vendors don't have and not willing to pay the council for), exchange ain't going ahead... So I took a half day off work, rushed down to the borough and was handed a folder with ALL the planning permissions for our road and I had to find the ones my solicitor was after. Miraculously managed to locate them, got them copied (for free!) and off it went to the solicitor. But vendor's solicitor and his secretary were off today so exchange finally due to happen tomorrow! Fingers crossed!
The funny thing was when I was at the council, the people there just handed me the whole folder happily and left me alone with it outside at the reception area. Can you imagine if I ran away with it? Boy, that would really screwed up any housebuying on that street FOREVER! :rotfl:
Good luck all! Hopefully some of us will exchange soon, I am soooooo sick of all this housebuying business!

Bad news is her seller now has to find a property.
And the chain disappears into the sunset..
Our chain is complete- only the 3 of us I believe.
Things are starting to move- surveys and searches are being paid for as we speak.
Top of the chain are moving into rented to fingers crossed for a trouble free completion- hoping for a Jan/Feb move maybe.0 -

Hex2 - fingers vrossed for next week then.
DKNY - I see your now heading for a Jan move - good luck with the exchange But you never know, it's still a month away and, as I said in previous post, one minute nothing was happening with us, then the next we exchanged.
I have boxes everywhere - so can sympathize with all you guys packing right now. I have a nightmare weekend in store - last few trips to the tip and the dreaded oven clean...yikes...I hate to admit we've never cleaned it (bought new 3 years ago - but in my defense, it is meant to be 'self-cleaning' - although I'm guessing this special coating or whatever it is not really an excuse!!!!)
On a downer - have cable at moment and thinking will convert to sky, but don't want to get them out until know which room will be used as a lounge, and which room will have broadband in it. Just saw loads of Xmas ads for good TV over the festive season. Unlikely I'll have it by then. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH ONLY 5 CHANNELS AND NO INTERNET??????!!!!!!!
Oh, I know, unpack!
Miss Bee at least you have 5 channels ha ha, we aren't going to have any!!!! We complete next Wednesday (7 more walks to the station and 6 more sleeps) but there is no TV aerial and telephone points, called BT they are coming in Thursday to put them in and we don't think Sky can install before christmas so no TV for us!! But hey we'll be in our house thats all that matters!!!
Good luck to everyone elseHouse purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.
Hang in there everyone it is worth it0 -
angel1976 - I love your pro-active approach - that is brilliant! If everyone used their initiative like that there would not be so many delays. You should be a conveyancer - LOL.0

Have you all checked your Solicitor's Xmas dates? Mine ( CW ) are sending out letters stating that their office is closed form noon 21/12/2006 until 02/01/2007 for Xmas.
If we haven't completed before the 20th December we are stuck until the new year!0 -

I'd try solicitor first as they should know before the Agent. But if they are busy its worth calling the Agent to chase things up.0 -

Thanks Goldbyron but I couldn't take the stress of it all!And dealing with all the emotional meltdowns that come with the job. Ha ha! OH was moaning about why can't the real estate agents or vendors do it as obviously it is local to them and we are on the other side of London but basically I told him that if we wanted to argue about who does this because of 'principles' we could be atill arguing about who does it months down the road. The ironic thing is it wasn't even that hard and probably took me about 3 hours in all (including travelling time...).
