Sending positive thoughts your way tomorrow ;)
  • I could cry with our house purchase, in fact i did - to the estate agent last week, we've had nothing but problems since the day we put the offer in!!

We put our offer in at 4pm on Wed 9th August and it was accepted 10 Friday 11th August, has showed our mortgage offer letter etc to estate agent, who said it should be a smooth running 28 day exchange as we are FTB and the property we're buying is empty, owned by a relocation company, good, or so we thought!!

Instructed Solictors etc and then we thought 'right - we'll be in in 28 days' started ordering the bed (8-10 weeks wait) fridge, washing machine tv sofa etc, 10 weeks later and our solicitor had not recieved a contract from their party, after numerous phone calls, and no returned call, the other party emailed the estate agent to ask how things were going - he was very sharpe with them stating it was their side that was holding it all up, he said that we had been chasing 'X' solicitors, for the to turn round and say 'oh no - we're using 'Y' now - we changed them weeks ago'!!!! Can you belive it - they hadnt told a sole!!!

The contract then came through - brilliant we thought, the balls really rolling now - WRONG!!
Had a searchs done, the mine shaft came back saying there was one within 20meters of the boundary, but the map that was enclosed showed a street about 1/2 mile away - another delay!!

The rest of the searches say that we need insurance for a Chancel Check Report and Environmental Report, and our Solicitor was asking the other party to pay for it, they came back stariagt away and said 'Yes' to the Chancel but hadn't replied to the Environmental Stuff, all went quite for nearly 2 weeks, phoned EA Agent who basically said that they're taking the Mickey, and got the director of the comany to phone and have a go, we've now had the questionnaire back off them that our SOL needs to apply for the insurance, but they aint said if they pay for it, whildst all this has been going on, Halifax said that they are happy for us to have the mortgage (was told this over the phone) phoned them back a week laster when we hadnt recieved the paper confirmation to be told 'on ho - it hasnt been approved, the valuers want an additional mine search report' This was done and they finaaly authorised it.

So thats where we are at the mo, our Solictor is a nightmare everytime you phone to speak to her your made to feel like you're wasting her precious time.

Fell REALLY close to saying 'forget it!!!'

Sorry for the rant - needed to get it of my chest!!
MSE has changed me for the better!!

RachaelC - lots of sympathy for you
Lynz - best of luck for tomorrow.

My exchange has now slipped to Monday, so earliest move date 11th December. Everything crossed again, for a while today we thought the whole chain had collapsed.

I haven't been on here for a few days - and lots seems to be happening!!

Hex2 - fingers vrossed for next week then.
DKNY - I see your now heading for a Jan move - good luck with the exchange But you never know, it's still a month away and, as I said in previous post, one minute nothing was happening with us, then the next we exchanged.

I have boxes everywhere - so can sympathize with all you guys packing right now. I have a nightmare weekend in store - last few trips to the tip and the dreaded oven clean...yikes...I hate to admit we've never cleaned it (bought new 3 years ago - but in my defense, it is meant to be 'self-cleaning' - although I'm guessing this special coating or whatever it is not really an excuse!!!!)

On a downer - have cable at moment and thinking will convert to sky, but don't want to get them out until know which room will be used as a lounge, and which room will have broadband in it. Just saw loads of Xmas ads for good TV over the festive season. Unlikely I'll have it by then. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH ONLY 5 CHANNELS AND NO INTERNET??????!!!!!!!
    Oh, I know, unpack!
