  • A very good evening to everybody

My day didnt get off to a very good start - prepare yourself for a saga dear reader - decided to go to work by bus, got to the bus stop & waited for a bus that had no intention of arriving. After what felt like an eternity, my bladder began to feel the worse for the cold & I realised the only sensible thing to do was to return home for a comfort break. After this, I cleared the car of snow (about 4 inches fell overnight), phoned into work to let them know I was trying to get there & set out on my 2nd attempt. When I actually got onto the main A road, I managed afew hundred metres, only to grind to a halt. I then crawled for nearly an hour, before finally managing to get up to 30mph (whooppy doo!) & got to work extremely late. At least I was in one piece though.

Tea tonight is going to be a whippet meal - you whippet out the freezer & whippet in the oven. I shall be throwing something together for the slow cooker later on though & cooking it over night.

Managed to make a start on the Christmas cards yesterday and will do some more tonight. Apart from that I intend to be a lazy so & so & to veg out as early as I possibly can with a glass or 3 of something gorgeous.

    Stay safe & snuggly x

Thank you for this, it made me laugh so much but what a fab idea if you're lucky enough to have a warm bum! Sadly I don't fall into that category :(

I am so pleased to be home! worked on a bit then it took me ages to walk home, was scared of falling on the ice.

Just off to find something to throw in the SC to make some soup. The one I had from the freezer today was a bit nothingy IYKWIM, want something thick and spicy in this weather.

    Have a good evening xx

But I haven't got any left now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Have got sweet potato, tomato and garlic roasting in the oven, will shove them in the SC with some veg stock, ginger and a couple of sad looking chillies I found in the freezer.

Should smell nice when I get up in the morning :D

Evening folks, late in posting today as it has been a nightmare of a day. I was suppose to be off work to go christmas shopping, however the snow put paid to that. i am an co-ordinator for a large Company and organise cover in each of the shops, with this being a long weekend I gave the emergency contact phone to the boss, however given the circumstances felt that I had to offer to help out, so eight o'clock I set off trudging through ten inches of snow to walk the one and a half miles to work. I hadnt had time for breakfast so threw some rolls, HM Marmalade and butter in my bag, so that was a welcome when eventually managed to get some time. Finished at two rather than 5.30 as had some things I had planned to do today and have decided to take Wednesday off - unless the snow gets worse.
Had a busy time yesterday, I made 8 jars of spiced orange marmalade, and its amazing what you comeup with if you have to. I didnt have any muslin to put the spices into so used one of DGS little baby socks and it worked wonders!!! Have got this all with pretty material and labels on. Knitting pins have been going good style as have got thick socks on one pair, green scarf on another pair and a tammy to match the socks on another - I can never knit one things at a time.
Any word on baby Sam today? Hope everyone else is well, and preparing ahead for the freezing weather that is suppose to hit us Thursday/Friday - we are being told minus 17 overnight!
    Take care and stay cosy

  • Got back to daughter's home in Lakes mid afternoon after a hard day clearing out Aunts house ( she is in a nursing home now). After last nights snow it was a bit hair-raising driving both there and back - gritters hadnt made it to our village and we have some hills round us.
Now have loads of bags of 'stuff' destined for charity shop and loads of bags destined for the skip arriving on Wednesday. Packed lots of china and glass - problem is that noone wants tea services and cut glass vases anymore and aunt was a great collector. So for the moment they will all remain in boxes. Made me stop and think of all the stuff we accumulate in our lives most of which we dont really need - made a mental note to start getting rid of some stuff now - there are just the 2 of us and we are both retired and just dont need things anymore. Never been keen on ornaments and knick-knacks anyway.

Always sad to see someones life packed into boxes and bags.

Back to do some more tomorrow if the snow allows us and then back home to Manchester and hope that our home hasnt frozen up ( did leave some heating on).
More snow and cold weather forecast for rest of week. Stay as warm and well as you can everyone.
