Old style daily monday 29 november

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Day 5 of snow here this morning and boy what a blizzard we've woken up to, OH set off for work 50 minutes early and is there - just had a call, got the radio on to listen out for school closures - DS2 gets the bus and our place just comes to a standstill when the snow hits, so his bags ready with key and mobile if he gets sent home early, biscuits and a drink.
Need to get the shovel to put in my boot - luckily I can work from home but do have a class this afternoon depending on the raods I think I'll be phoning the learners to cancel.
Freezer and cupboards are stocked and its HM soup for dinner and left over Lasagne for tea.
Have a great day everyone0 -
Morning all - went to sleep to thunder and lightening - woke up to thunder and lightening. I can't ever remember thunderstorms and snow at the same time before. Ah well - if I can get the car out of the street I'll be braving the journey to work. We measured the snow yesterday - 9 inches - and it is snowing again now. I love to see little children in the snow with so many layers on their arms stick out! That might be me as well today. Have a good day, and for those with snow - take care.0

Morning all
Icy here but no snow yet, it's due tomorrow, brrr.
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, fish have been fed & breakfast eaten, I knitted a black scarf yesterday & started a cream one. I shall start collecting the money soon & dishing them out, I'm also selling calenders of naked rugby players for my SIL for a local cancer charity.
I need to get hubby some thermal long johns too, he's really feeling the cold atm.
The house looks better now all the laminate floors have been polished, I need to do the upstairs ones next.
Rubber chicken for tea tonight, in a pie with mushrooms & bacon.
Stay safe & warm everyone.
Hugs Hester

morning
the weather sounds terrible around the country, no more snow here though - thank goodness
off to work soon and have a meeting at lunchtime
have a good day everyone - keep warm!0 -
Morning all. Snow in the night - good couple of inches and still snowing heavily now. DS2 and OH are going nowhere due to illness, just waiting to see if DS1 is in school, although for the sake of a day I'm thinking I'll keep him home. When its light and has perhaps stopped snowing we'll take the sledges and the dogs out on to the Army training area for some fun I think. Have a wee bit of tiding up that I can do from the weekend - and might take the children on a sledge trek to Tesco for some veggies and some fun on the way! Might try Aldis as its a wee bit closer than Tesco!
Will get food out of the freezer - lots of things to keep us warm and snuggly. xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Good Morning All
Hope little one improves soon Halight
No snow here at the moment, but don't think it will be long
Managed to get all the ironing done yesterday :j so will be keeping on top of that now.
Have an office day today, have a few hours to do on new job and loads to catch up on so will concentrate on that today.
Sausage & mash for dinner tonight, nice and easy.
Have a good day & keep warm.x0 -
Morning all,
Still no snow here, but very cold again, we might get a bit of snow later on today or tomorrow. Its - 2 here at the moment.
Sistercas, I am sorry I meant to say Happy Birthday to your dd for Saturday xx
DD had a great birthday, I got her some ugg boots, which she was thrilled to bits with, and its nice to see her with something warm and sensible on her feet, My sister got her a scarf and beret with hat pin in a beautiful rich plum colour, and mum got her a t-shirt, bracelet and handbag, she got lots of other bits and bobs from friends, and £45, so she did very well. I must say I was dissapointed in her dad, he got her a half price T-shirt from Mr T and nothing else , did not even take her out for a pizza or something to eat.
Dinner tonight will be the left over chinese from last night ( I think there is enough) may do a bit more rice to top it up, it was delish, and I dont want to waste it.
Today I need to do a wash, and get it on the line, hoover through and tidy the rest of the bits from dd's sleepover, do an online shop, I will then sit and make my Xmas cards, ready to write tomorrow. I think next week will be wrapping presents. We dont put our tree up till about the 18th, I dont like it up too early.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Light sprinkling of snow on top of the ice from yesterday! But we certainly are in a better position than lots!
Had a quiet and productive weekend. Boys rugby was cancelled yesterday, so was able to have a lie-in, very nice it was too. The pork I roasted for lunch yesterday was lovely, and have some leftovers, so that will be mine and DH's dinner for tomorrow evening. Tonight's dinner is steak pie, chips and beans for DH and boys and I'll be having salmon, jacket potato and salad/veg. I made some potato and leek soup on Saturday, as had leeks to use up and felt that it would be a change to have soup rather than salad in this cold weather!
DS2 not very happy this morning as he feels that school should be cancelled as we have snow - nowhere near enough or conditions bad enough for the school to be closed yet! DS1 insistent that he cycles to school, would rather give him a lift half way then he walk the rest, but he knows best etc ..... the joys of being 13!
Have to work locally today then over to the other office tomorrow.
Take care everyone, especially those with awful weather conditions.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
