Also you could do the 'well in that case kindly take the items/shopping back off' approach.

Once won about £15 of tokens, made up of several vouchers, for a certain range of kiddies' sweets in Tesco. Chose them all, not suspecting any restrictions as they were a prize. SA said could only take one voucher at a time, so I said 'Oh well, deduct them all then because I only bought them to use my prize up'. She suddenly relented and let them all go through, did not fancy having to sit there deducting all those little packets

I'd had the same experience with a young girl SA, so although I avoid the older ladies I've never actually had them turn any coupons down except if the till won't accept them.

I think the older SA's too 'understand' using coupons ... younger cashiers look at you like you're a bag lady! ..... I know I don't dress up to go to Mr T's but I try!

I haven't got a hugely thick skin ... but I don't care if the people behind me in the q are frowning ... and the girl thinks i'm tight ...

My partner came home last night smiling ... He's the FD of a v big company ... he'd been to blow up his tyres at the Tesco garage ... he tells me it saves on fuel ... and had wombled a 5p off per litre voucher from the forcourt .... he was over the moon! ....:rotfl:

Its the little things .... keep smiling ... :^)

I'm still not brave enough to use coupons on a manned till, I still use the self -scan!!

You can't use coupons at the self scan at all in my store unless you have bought the product. If you use coupons the SA swoops on you and starts dismantling the machine to check what you've used!!

If you go to a manned till they are normally ok. I people watch and try and get the ones who I think will scan anything. Usually the young lads are ok, but some of the young girls seem to stick to the party line.

Watch the shopper in front if they have vouchers to guage how the SA deals with them. If they are pedantic, I only hand a few coupons over, but if they look easy going I normally try a few more with a "can you see how many of these are ok!?" and they'll often put the lot through... I did this yesterday and they scanned the lot without querying anything (although it was probably still within the old(?) 10% of your shop value...
