tesco coupons , tightening up

Went into Tesco today and when i presented some coupons, the cashier showed me a letter from head office dated this month regarding acceptance of coupons. It seems to me that they are tightening up and she would only accept a coupon for 50p from me.
I didnt have the time to read the letter in detail, but it spells out how many coupons to accept , according to the amount spent.
Has anyone else heard about this?

havnt seen the letter, but just back from shopping at a tesco that are usually good with coupons, and they only accepted one of each coupon (still got loads from the pizzas back in the summer lol!) and wouldnt accept internet or other stores coupons, so sounds like they are having a purge again!
only got 75p off a £47 shop. not complaining though, it all helps, and still doing my carrier bag recycle, so got extra points for that.

Must be ageneral thing i suspect. Still, i doubt if it will last long. a bit like the shopping packers with whom they were overrun with at one time. You try finding one now!
Also with xmas dawning, they will be far too busy to mess around checking things.0 -
I went to a Tesco I've never been to before - a Metro as well - and they took my vouchers no problem.0

I've been handing in coupon for ages in my Aylesbury Tesco, but the other day they said a new policy had been implemented and they were only allowed to accept coupons not exceeding 50p and only up to £2.50 worth (ie. max of 5 coupons for 50p) and absolutely NO internet or printed coupons whatsoever.2.4 kids and a fish0

I've just been to tesco and handed 3 coupons totalling £1.00 to the cashier, I had spent £75.00 - she asked me had I bought the items (which I had ).
She didn't mention a new policy and I didn't think much of it at the time, thought I had just picked a jobsworth!!0 -
Just as I gained enough confidence to hand over a good number of coupons, looks like it might all come to an end!!!!!
I even handed over one of those coupons out of the Coast magazine for £1.99 last week, thought that was a bit cheeky but the SA seemed willing to scan anything.
Lets hope this is just a flash in the pan!!!0 -

Is this for coupons for products not bought, or any coupons?
I was planning on stocking up on nappies tomorrow and have a load of £1 and £2 coupons for them to use up - if Tesco won't take them, I may as well go to Boots and get the points there instead.

I used to work at Tescos as a cashier during my A'levels and when I was there the rule was that you were allowed to take one coupon as a gesture of good will if the customer hadn't bought the item, plus an extra one if they had. However, more than this will be accepted by the till (it used to be a regular occurance that customers who came late at night when the BOGOF items were reduced and had coupons actually were owed money by Tescos!) Tesco's own coupons will only go through if you have bought the item.0

Well, at least there will be some consistency! I hate not knowing what will/won't be accepted.
I have lots of 15p and 20p ones, but also have 2 pregnancy and birth mag £1.00 ones, which is a shame. I think I'll just go along with trying at each shop to use a minimum of 50p worth. That's good enough for me."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -

I also had two of those mag coupons (from a Boots mailing), managed to use one in Tesco last week.
I've been shopping practically every other day in Tesco recently, which is unusual for me, and have now worked out which SA is my best bet for coupon use. One of them always says I can give her what I like, when I timidly asked if I can give her some coupons!!! She seems to have the opinion that if the till accepts them it's okay.....I just hope she still thinks that way!!!0
