tesco coupons , tightening up

  • I used £14 of vouchers & the lovely girl on checkout just kept scanning away. I will try again this week, hopefully she will do the same again.

Where do you all get your vouchers from all I had were the h&b & the book vouchers. Any ideas where I can find any from?

    TIA
  • No problems with coupons being accepted today. Bought £30 worth of kids clothing plus some wine for the points, I used £4 off £20 spend, £5 off £25 spend and £6 off £30 spend on clothes plus £2.75 worth of other coupons. I was worried about using all the clothing coupons together as you're not suppose to, I didn't want to push my luck but could have handed over more.

    It's all hit and miss.

I spent £51 less £4.20 (kids had 20% off) on clothes in tesco on Saturday. I asked if she could scan the clothes through first so that I knew which clothing voucher to use. I had the £4,£5,£6 &£10 off. I thought I might have bought enough to use the £10 off £50 spend. But instead of only putting through one voucher she took them all off on the one transaction! :rotfl: She did though scan the £4 voucher twice instead of using the £6 doing me out of £2. But I still got a total of £23 off a £46.80 spend GIVING ME A TOTAL OF £23.80 TO PAY! :T As far as I was aware you could only use one voucher per transaction :j

when i last went to tesci, down pompey i only managed to use 3 off a 30 pound shop, it prompted for authorisation after the third! :
  • clarabell1984 - I did the same thing last week using all the blue vouchers in one transaction and getting 20% off too which resulted in a spend of just £15 on an initial clothing bill of £50. The terms of the vouchers do state one per transaction but because the barcodes are different the till will accept them all.

I haven't used vouchers for a couple of days so will see when I do my main shop this weekend. If they take them great, if they don't well I will save them for another time.

found out last week through a mutual friend that im called the coupon lady wonder if my pics up in the canteen:rotfl:

me too, i always try to have ten percent of my bill ready when i shop in asda (my tesco are always tight on coupons) and the SA's ask me where i get them from, they are amazed that i buy from ebay. but if you can buy a £10 saving for £3 and you don't have any coupons of your own it's worth it.

I think you are definately right. At the beginning of the year I said to wife that we would start shopping around. Being a customer of Tescos for about 20 years I didn't feel valued - for spending approx 6k a year (large family). We looked at prices of similar products in Iceland, Netto and a few local stores and we believed we could save about 20% or more a year. Then I stumbled on this site and all the coupons/points etc. I already have over £1000 towards our holiday next summer and the coupons were a fantastic bonus too. HOWEVER - this is what keeps up at Tesco's. I have no loyalty towards them anymore. See what happens by Xmas if I no longer feel I am getting a good deal I will buy from them when it suits and my 6k will be shared around. Be warned Mr T I am not alone!!!

I agree Stebiz. Before I knew about Tescos coupons policy, I would shop around only buying stuff in Tescos that weren't stocked in Netto or some of the other discount stores and moving up the price band so if Tescos didn't stock something, maybe I'd go further upmarket to Waitrose;). Places like Nettos are significantly cheaper than the big named stores and I'll be abandoning them again if there's no incentive for me to go.

Oh and I remember reading something at the weekend about a new website that compared the online prices of the major supermarkets to help buyers shop around. I'd forgotten about it, so this has served as a timely reminder. It's mySupermarket.co.uk works as bit like Kelkoo etc so I'll be checking that out too.

I rang up Tesco CS on Monday to complain about Bristol Whiteladies Rd Tesco refusing to take any, and asked for a clarification of the policy. Woman on the other end told me that the system says one at a time (although if that is per transaction, per person, per day or what I don't know). I asked for her to send me a copy of this so that I can prove it to those little sods at Whiteladies Rd . . . .

went to tesco tonite did the self scan spent £8.54 tried to scan 1 quick read voucher it wouldnt let me it called out for it to be authrised or whatever is says, lady came over and told me she had to look at voucher first to see if i bought the product she wouldnt allow it i showed her my 50p off daz voucher and she wouldnt allow that either, wont be going to that tesco again, my usual store allows me to use at least 4 or 5 vouchers till it starts shouting at me lol
  • If Tescos really wanted to they could set all their tills to accept a certain percentage of money off vouchers before a supervisor is called. If they can do this on self-scanners then they must be able to do it on the manned tills too.

  • I spent about £8 in my local Tesco Express tonight and the lad took 5 quick reads and another 30p coupon. He said he was fed up being on the tills and didn't care, so I don't think things will change much so long as you choose the right cashier.

I didn't have the heart to go back and get an R&R for out of date SEL on Cadbury chocolate, might pop in again tomorrow morning.
