Pippi - glad you liked the surprise...I had four plants last year and got at least 5 or 6 large delicious fruit from each plant! That was from a mid-April sowing too!! So this year I have sown 7 seeds, with 6 up already (after only 11 days!)...in fact all the toms are up, and most of the peppers too...can't believe how fast it's all been. Must really get more seeds sown, but there's loads more to do too.

We have all been suffering from a lurgy this past week, severe headaches, dizziness and feeling really cold and shattered. DS seems to have been the worst (in bed with a low temp of 36 deg. today), but being diabetic he tends to suffer bugs more than most these days.

Right, must get back to the garden, but bread to knock back first...have been listening to an exciting cricket match...which England has just won...amazingly!!!

Have a great day....take care all.

i think we should get two sundays each week Pippi!
I made a yummy roast dinner. OH has introduced me to an easy way to have meat with your roast dinner if there's just two of you - buy a couple of slices pre cooked from the deli. I'm sure there's more economical ways of doing it but it certainly makes cooking a roast easy. :)

managed to get 30-40 seeds planted for 2 types of toms - moneymaker and gardeners delight. If they all come up i'll try and sell them at work, 3 for £1 or some such. I also planted 15 red and 15 white onion sets in pots to give them a head start. did consider trying to sell them in batches of 20 or so for people with only a little patch who would waste the big bags that they usually come in. They're certainly good quality as we get Kings seeds via the alotment society. Do you think it's something which would work?

Hey Pippi, I just read your blog about teaching, and the odd looks when you talked about pretty carrot leaves... well I was sure I had heard that at one time carrot leaves were worn to decorate hats, so to check I 'Googled' it and found this - not only are they decorative but apparently you can eat them too - I didn't know that! There's another interesting fact you can incorporate!

Morning! You were up here and *on* early Pippi, hope you managed to get some sleep. I just clicked the carrot link too, I'll have to have a look at that.

About selling plants/seeds - you're probably selling to people with my level of expertise (I know lots of theory about lots of stuff, but nothing about actually growing plants :) ) I'd say to tell people the average amount, or the range, of crop they might expect if everything goes according to plan. Or is that promising something that can't be delivered? Oh dear, I've confused myself now :rotfl:

Pippi - If poss, I'd vote for the train ... it is quicker, less stressful and just as scenic. You may also be able to get offers on East Coast Mainline (or whatever they are called these days) by booking from Edinburgh to York (or ED - NEWC) and then on to your final destination.

I once got £70 off the one way price from Durham to London by booking 3 tickets (Dur - York, York - Peterborough, Peterborough - Kings X). Same seat, same train ... madness (but better in my purse than in theres!!!)
