hey unixgirl. sorry to hear that you are still having such a hard time of it all. I wish there was something I could do but all I can do is send you a virtual hug. I take it there is no way to improve you home life in any way? did you get a better job in the end?
I know 2011 is going to be the year for loads of us, and I am asking the universe to include you in the good times too

ps you know that I am now going to dream of chickens playing twister, cos it is bed time here LOL!
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Morning Peeps,

So sorry you're having a tough time Unix. Anything we can help with, other than moral support of course?

Hope everyone else is feeling on top form, or at least better...

I have just been given an EasiYo yogurt maker on freecycle, very chuffed!

Now the sun is shining, birds are singing, I got a bit carried away yesterday, did a bit of weeding and planted some radish seeds under a plastic cloche.

Have to say I've never read any of those '... for Dummies' books - the titles offend me, I'm not a Dummy, just because I don't know anything about one subject - Huh!

I agree Trog, I'm not a Dummy, I'm an expert on many things (errrm, don't ask me what on, as it might take a time to remember, lol) so have never been drawn to one of those books either :0)

Trying to work out how I can get DD and I up to Stripeyland to meet the chickens, Peedie and the stripey family, it really is very far away.....759 miles to drive, or a l-o-n-g time on the train. Could be a fun road trip though, maybe take it slowly and take in a lot of Britain along the way :)

Worth it thought Kittikins! :T :T And it's a lovely train trip (when it's not snowing, that is!)

Morning all! Unix sorry to hear things are a bit rubbish - I echo what others have said about letting us know if we can be of any help.
KK don't feel deflated, look at it this way, he feels poorly and yet still wants to see you, that's got to be good!
Pips  to your weather - I've been keeping an eye on the Hebrides ferries too and they have a LOT cancelled, plus the freight ferry is off the run for the fourth night on the bounce so things will be starting to get a bit scarce in the shops now. Radio 2 said earlier that the flights into Kirkwall were cancelled and that your ferries had problems too so I knew there were problems up your way.

How far dahn saarf are you Cheery? Did you get the London sleeper train? Am thinking that would be a fab adventure for me and DD :)

I know EH, I am such a diva aren't I!?!? I've just given myself a telling off and am getting excited about seeing him in 1 3/4 hours (not that I'm counting or anything, lol) :)

There's not really much that will improve my home life unless my OH stops being so selfish or I go it alone. I did get a better job and I'm loving it. So nice to have some money again but I'm left paying for everything and the current situation is draining my finances as he won't realise its not our problem. We're supposed to be having our own child and thats never going to happen whilst we have this situation going on. Told him he needs to leave it alone and he says he will then does the opposite!

Thanks for the prayers Chev, they obviously worked for the job. Can you ask the universe to take this mess out of my life now? :o

Apologies KK - I know this was aimed at Daffs, but your mention of the sleeper grabbed my attention! :D We've gone up north on the sleeper several times - including up as far as Inverness. It is indeed a FAB adventure, we love it, but it's not the cheapest unless you are flexible enough to be able to pick & choose your dates according to what days the bargain berths are available.

Have a look HERE and HERE (hope that second link works!) - at the moment it only appears to be showing single ticket availability on most of those dates too.

Hope you have rocks in your pockets Pippi :)

KK - agreed re the sleeper that would be so exciting for DD. When I did Edinburgh to London there were some good deals but as EH said you needed to be flexible. T'would be so exciting to see Pippi and Peedie et al.

Thanks EH, all Scotland hints tips and advice very much welcomed :)

Feeling a bit chirpier now as a lovely Monsoon dress I bought off ebay that I thought would be too small actually fits (you gotta love jersey :) ) and I'm feeling gorgeous!
