seems i'm getting all brave at the moment, have an appointment on friday for double glazing man to come out. I've got a day off to bake lots of cakes so that's ok, and i may try bribery with cake products to get an even better price.
I've also just applied for the First Direct bank account, fingers crossed! I'm still worried about getting such things, even though i have no credit problems (luckily never have had) and never had anything refused.0 -
on both issues good point - anohter extra work session tomorrow not going ahead due to weather. Rough with the smooth I suppose - no petrol for the past couple of days - no other expenses.
How is the house coming along - the trouble (in my case) moving in stages - you open a cupboard and find a whole lot of unpacked boxes. I've just emptied two more (books)Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

:j thank heavens you do it too .... the boxes are still sitting in the living roomtho actually, the book boxes were some of the first things I did unpack - it created a lot more space, to get the books onto the shelves rather than having bookcases with no books on them....

Sounds like your aluminium doesn;t have a thermal barrier in it. This means the aluminium is directly conducting your heat to the outside world. A change to uPVC should make quite a difference."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Indeed, well done LT! :T
I'm guessing if you're invigilating Pippi then the exams will have to be rescheduled at some point - fingers crossed they get you in to do them! :T And you're right - no petrol, no other spends :j
Just walked home - still snowing heavily here, and the footprints I'd made an hour before were completely gone!  Goodness knows what it'll be like by the morning  PhD tomorrow though so at home with hot chocolate and a little trip out for a snowball fight
:j :j to new chickens :j :j Hope they like each other! Bet they'll all be huddled together in the morning0 -
LT - I don't have the experience of going from old to new windows but I live in a new build flat with good double glazing and so far we've not put the heating on. And we're not freezing our a***s off either. Obv this is related to the insulation as well, plus I'm on the 3rd floor so 'borrowing' heating from above, below and sides.
I'm also with First Direct and I loooooove them and everyone I know who is with them totally hearts them too. I think you'll be fine and hopefully you'll have the same experience that I've had. It is such a novelty to ring your bank and have someone with intelligence, interest and helpfulness speak to you!!!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -

makeup the only potential problem i forsee with First Direct is that decades ago they didn't give me a job
but in hindsight they did me a massive favour!
hope the new chickens are settling in well, they'll probably be shown the ropes by the old ones when it gets light. All the escape routes, the best views, the tastiest food. Everything your stripey chicken needs to know.0 -
