Its taken me a while....nearly three years in fact, to get my head around the fact that things have to change. I have only ever looked at the serious money posts, but i love reading your diary. I am envious that you are able to write at masters level. I am struggling with a degree at 38. My last module is suspended because my brain hit a wall which it is till hiding behind. I will continue to absorb the positive encouraging vibes from yours and others posts, and hopefully, from time to time add a couple of my own, maybe

Yay, another new person, jump in and join in the fun Virgoean! You add insightful and encouraging posts when you can, and chattering ones when you feel like it
And you just be patient, that pesky brain will come out from behind that wall in its own time, and your degree will get done eventually. Looks like you've jumped into a few challenges with both feet - well done you! :T :T
Hope writing's gone ok today Pippi xx0 -
EssexHebridean wrote: »Lots of options from Oban La E as Pippi says - you can even do "non landing cruises" from there to Coll/Tiree and back, then there's the little ferry to Kerrera, Lismore as you say, and of course the "Major Unit" ferries to the Uists, Barra and Mull. Both Mull and Skye are do-able to a large extent via public transport, and B&B's when you get there are surprisingly reasonable compared to mainland prices. We only really take the car because two weeks self catering isn't really practical without it - when we were doing shorter stays and staying in B&B's and travelling about the islands we always used buses and it was fine. Public transport is also cheap compared to the same distances travelled on the mainland. Remember too that the ferries to the Uists, Barra, Lewis & Harris are currently covered by the Road Equivalent Tariff trial too - our ferry this year for me, MrEH and a Renault Clio called Grace will be under £70 return. :T That's about half what it would be without RET so makes up a lot for the increase in fuel prices once there. I'm afraid we also fill up on the mainland before heading across - then top up again on Skye before going for the ferry. We don't feel guilty about it as the islanders do the same!
Oops - I've gone on a bit, sorry - favourite subject!
:T Thanks EH! So much to explore.0 -
*sigh* MrA can't come tonight as he's feeling ill again

Hello Virgoean welcome, what LT said but nobody has mentioned the pancakes and hobnobs that we share.
EH what a picture I now have painted in my head.
I love it around Loch Lomond it is my heaven. Espescially playing Its a kind of magic at full blast as you tootle along the roads. I nearly bought a shop in Arrochar! Right on Loch Long overlooking the Ben Arthur and the Cobbler. Oh and right next door to the couple who bought a house on Relocation Relocation Sorry, just felt the need to share. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons.
