Hello All,
Was thinking last night as I did a Delia recipe which chef is your favourite and which is your least favourite? I don't mean celebrity / personality wise (although that can be a factor) but who do you always go back to for consistently good meals, easy to follow instructions etc?
I've always found Delia a bit annoying / patronising however all the recipes I have from her are wonderful and when followed the results are always excellent.
I also love Jamie Olivers chuck it all in style and Nigella, although I don't use her recipes as much but those I do use are great and very straightforward.

I have 2
My absolute favourite for easy straightforward tasty meals is Ainsley Harriott. When I'm after something a bit more posh I refer to the perfectionist Gary Rhodes.
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
I love Nigella and cook from her regularly (although I am notorious for not being able to follow a recipe) - I love the way she just chats about food and often just sit and read her books for fun. Although I was a bit disgruntled to buy 'Feast' and realise it's about cooking for hordes of people - there's only me and the Nipper 99% of the time! LOL Still an enjoyable read tho. And her Coca Cola Ham has become one of my signature dishes
Which reminds me, anyone know where the best place to buy a hunk of gammon is?

Delias recipes usually work, so use them a lot. I also like Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (strangely attractive), his books are a good read and some good recipes and James Martin (just to look at:D )0

She gets my vote too.:beer:0 -
Nix,
Thats why I like Nigella too, it's a good read. If you like that, have you tried Elizabeth David? She is the Ultimate Goddess and her books are wonderful.

don't know if he is a chef or a food writer, but Nigel Slater gets my vote. Nice, simple recipes and he writes with such love about food. I was so upset to find out he was gay!:p0

My mum really like Jamie Oliver and regularly cooks from his books, chocolate torte is divine!!!!! My mum used to be a chef and was very similar to Jamie in that she throws stuff in and something great always comes out at the end.
I am more of a Gordon Ramsey girl myself, my OH just brought Gordons and his wife's cook books and so far they are a great read.
I have never really watched Nigella or looked at one of her books but I might be tempted to have a look now, am quite curious about coca cola ham, does sound yummy!!!
Great Thread BTWProud to be me, proud to be who I am!!0 -
I love Delia for the basics and Gordon Ramsay because I can imagine him shouting at me as I'm cooking one of his recipes - I'm know - I'm twisted!0
