I would inform the vet of the 'diagnosis' before attending as act on their advice. It is not illegal to take a sick animal to a vets.0

That poor cat will most likely die, outside in this weather ,starving and ill.Such a shame it couldn't have been taken to the vets sooner. I do hope you manage to get it and put it out of it's misery asap.It has to be the best course of action.
People slag off the RSPCA but they were the only people who have actually offered to do something to help.
Good on you for trying to help.0 -

I would guess they know what they are talking about although there was a case recently where the RSPCA had a family pet put to sleep by mistake, so it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.
Are your own cats vaccinated, because if it has feline aids it could pass it on.0 -
Just read that he is injured, poor thing.
I know you don't want to see him PTS but it may be the kindest thing for him:( I would try and get him to the vet myself though. RSPCA are not the most forgiving organisation. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Just thought I would update once more,I was contacted again today via the RSPCA, I’m a little concerned that I’m being push for a decision about the stray cat and the women seems stuck up & generally pushy. So this evening I thought I would contact one last rescue!I have just been told they will help me, But I have a feeling I’m going to have to move fast! The rescue Bristol league for cats has promised not to put him down, unless he has feline aids! They will pay any expenses for injuries and find him a new home where they can! However, I’m worried I can be prosecuted some how from the RSPCA if another rescue takes him?Am I just being silly? Or do they now have the upper hand? All I want is for this cat to be rescued & treated & rehomed?Future goals:

No the RSPCA cannot prosecute you so please don't worry about that, all you are trying to do is help and as per usual the RSPCA are worse than useless. FIV+ cats can be rehomed but it sounds like this poor guy has other problems too
Sadly it may be the best thing for him to be put to sleep, but at least with an organisation other than the RSPCA he has a chance. Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I wouldn't worry about it ... as far as the RSPCA know, someone else may have taken this cat in or taken it to a rescue centre.
Until the cat has seen a vet, nobody can say what may or may not be wrong with it so it's nice to know it will get the chance of a proper examination before any decision is made.
Speaking from past experience, the RSPCA can be too swift to get rid of "a problem" before looking into it further.
Don't get me wrong, they do do some good work but I have heard their officers saying it's best to get rid of "what they can" when they are over-run.
Sounds like this Bristol place will do the right thing by the cat ... a decent examination, medical attention if needed and, if the best thing for the cat is to let it go, then at least they have given it the option of recovery before condemning it just by glancing at it like Snooty Drawers did.
Bless you for trying to help it, though!!0 -
Hi everyone,
First of all I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped me over the past few days!
Ok, Well is poke to someone from the Bristol league for cats last night, we were on the phone for over an hour, Trying to work out some sort of plan on what to do next. Its seems this is all too common issue every cat rescue face daily.
However, I gave her the RSPCA women’s details and she gave her a call, Explaining they are now willing to assist where they can, They have offered the vet checks / care & a ready and waiting foster home, should the cat no have feline aids.
So skip to this morning,
At 8:45 this morning the women from the RSPCA showed up on my doorstep with a cat trap/create.
We have padded it out with loads of blankets & food, However it seems like it’s only my cats that enjoy the trap!
Anyway – This women seems to have had a change of heart, we have agreed that if the cat is healthy – He will be rehomed!
If he is injured – He will be rehomed once he has had treatment
But if he has is ill with aids ECT, It’s the rainbow bridge for him L
She has also took my advice, My vet has kept an open appointment with the understanding, Either me or the women from the RSPCA can take him up there for a emergency check at no cost to me. The RSPCA have said they will cover the fees!
So it looks like a win/win situation!!
I’m just so happy that this poor little might – Might get a happy ending after all!
I will update again a.s.a.p
Thanks again for all your help!

Princess87, that is really good news. Good luck trapping him. Very smelly food...sardines etc, is supposed to work well. We only go one in the trap:I think the others worked it out.

hehe, I think the stray is one smart kitty! He walked up to the trap - Had a smell, Then walked away! However, All mine love boxes! One of mine's been trapped this morning!

Think its going to be a long few days, However, i'm sure it will all work out right in the end!
