  • Thank you for the reply..! I will get about contacting them today!

Just noting:- I don't throw stone or bully this animal in any way! I'm a pet owner myself and would be livid is someone done this to mine!

I had a similar thing with a cat coming to our house and garden and my little cat kept weeing in corners etc coz she was upset. We ended up buying a pet port cat flap (which scans our cats micro chips- you can program in up to 30 cats) which has stopped it coming round anymore as it cant get any food.

Just a thought as it might go and find somewhere else to nick food from if it can't get into yours

Princessx87, I notice you are in Bristol. Not a million miles away from you in north and west witshire there is a charity call cats action trusthttp://www.catsactiontrust.speedycheetah.com/.

They might be able to offer advice I found them very helpful in the past. It might be they can loan you a trap if you drive to collect it or they might know of a charity like them that covers you area. They might simply be able to direct you somewhere that will help more.

When they helped me I made a £50 donation to their charity though they didn't ask for anything.Much cheaper than continued vet bills and worry.

In Bristol the OP could try Bristol & Wales Cat Rescue.

  • Just thought i would quickly update before i start yet another search for rescue places.

I have called over 20 different rescues within 10 miles of me, Everyone one of them other then the RSPCA have no places for this cat.

A friend told me to take the cat to my local vets, As they have connections to assist the animal. But again i'm a little worried the outcome will be the RSPCA.

Last night the cat came into the house, Only this time it didn't seem interested in fighting infact, I think the animal might now be inured. It seems to have its mouth wide open & cant shut it!

I called around the same rescues as before to update them, But again we was told to leave the cat - As someone could own him.

    Thanks for all the advice.

I tried a cat-flap when we first got our cats, Each & everyone of them hated it and refused to use it.

What a nightmare for you Princess! Have you thought about buying a water pistol? Every time he comes in your garden/house keep shooting him til he goes away. A super soaker should work.
Its only water so won't hurt him but he should get the message.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Personally I'd take it to the vet or persist with a rescue. I know it seems tragic to have him PTS by the rescue but if he is injured then it might be his best interests. We have a feral indoors who I took to the vet and it turns out is ill, if I couldn't afford to treat her or her situation worsens I'll have her PTS rather than turn her out to die. :(

    Hiya,

Please try catchat.org and find a local rescue. Make sure you tell them it's injured, lay it on thick. Good luck!

Please take him to the vet's. We've always understood that vets have a duty of care towards animals so that they do not suffer. If he is injured and can't close his mouth, he might starve and almost certainly will not be able to fend for himself until or unless he recovers. Also, as others have pointed out, vets do often have relationships with rescue charities who might be able to help him.

I can understand your concerns (both for your own cats and for the stray), but I really think it would be the best thing under the circumstances.

I hope it works out okay for you all. Please keep us updated as to what happens.

Just another though, have you tried catchat.org for lists of rescue centres in your area? It's an excellent site and may have places you haven't yet tried. Unfortunately, there are so many abandoned and stray cats around at the moment, and things are even worse because of the run up to Christmas.

He does need help urgently, though, if he has injured his mouth.

It sounds as if he might have something caught in his mouth, a bone or something, maybe. If he will let you, see if you can have a look, failing that, it's probably a vet's visit I guess....
  • Thank you everyone for your advice & support!

This morning I called my local vets for further information about what to do & if they have any connections or enforcement to rescue’s.

They have told me to come in with the cat, They was check his injuries & check for a micro-chip. However, If the cat has a owner & they sign him over, The agree to sign the animal over to the person who found him. Also the same applies if he has no owner or no one comes forward.

I said I would happily find him a good home, I have done this in the past, But it would be keeping hold of him until this home was found.

However, 30 Mins ago, Someone from the RSPCA came out & bang on time so did the cat in question.

He just sat on my neighbours driveway looking at me. She said it looks like his has been abandoned because of his state.

She said he looks like he’s on his last legs! He is clearly suffering with mange, A cat to the front paw, And something is clearly stopping his mouth from shutting. She said that its also got the symptoms of feline aids!

To which I didn’t even know you could see anything?

However, In a nutshell they are putting this cat to sleep once they can trap him!

This is still something I’m not happy about. I asked if I could take him to a vets before so I know he “really” is poorly but got told no,

As someone else already reported this animal as injured they now have to take it, Only the cat run!

So I have brought some time, Will I be breaking any laws if I rush the animal to the vets to double check everything?
