We want to get married at Gretna, the cheapest way. no hotel , just in and out.
can enyone tell us how much it would cost
Your cheapest way would be the registry office (opposite a fish and chip shop frequented by the local hoodies). Registrar is about £400 ish (poss a bit less)
Prob cheaper to get married in England as registrar costs are pretty high in comparison.0 -
I'm getting married at Gretna in 4 weeks at smiths x if you wanted the registrar in Gretna registry office it's a lot cheaper I hadn't realised the massive price difference in ministers and registrars and booked a reg its cost £335 !!!! A minister would have been £100 and then £70 for documents (m10) x0

As we've both been married before we are thinking of just going away (without family n friends) and getting married.
Wondering how easy is it to do in Grenta Green?
We also want to get married on a Sunday is that possible in Scotland?0 -
Thanks everybody for posting here we found the guy who set up Gretna One Stop Weddings and saved quite a bit of money, his advice about Venues and Ministers saved us the cost of his services within his package, so we got the wedding planner for free. search for budget weddings at gretna green when you see .biz thats him
he will make any package for you

He is very anti-religion, so a church service is out. We've been looking at alternatives, and I really liked a local manor house. I phoned them for a quote today and they want £1400 for just the hire of the room  There would then be registrars fees on top of that, and a reception elsewhere as they can't cater at the manor house. There is no way we can afford that, so I jokingly said let's go to Gretna Green.
Anyway, we've discovered that there are companies out there who do a full wedding package where you get married over the anvil. We've decided we're quite keen on the idea now, and it would be something different.
Just wondered if anyone else had done the same? What was it like, and can you recommend any companies who supply a 'package', or is it cheaper to book all the bits yourself?0 -

Hello! We are getting married in Gretna in September. We wanted a very low key and casual event and so have booked into The Blacksmiths workshop for the ceremony then off to the Gretna Inn pub afterwards! Has anyone done it like this on here? Any info/advice/re-assurance would be appreciated as it's a bit daunting booking things on website photos alone!0
