Our friends recently provided something similar at their DD's 1st Birthday.
Jacket potatoes, with various fillings but also 'spanish chicken' done in the slow cooker which was put in wraps with cheese fajita style.

I'd go for something like Macaroni Cheese too - the kids will love it, as well as the adults..... and with garlic bread - yum!
Chilli also sounds good but not sure if the really little kids will like it?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Lasagne
Chilli
spanish sausages and rice (basically chunks of pre browned sos in the slow cooker with chopped peppers and tinned tom's, a little paprika and some chicken stock, add enough liquid so the rice will cook in it but still have some sauce or have micro rice ready to nuke!)Nonny mouse and Proud!!

Jacket spuds with a chilli in the SC.
Ham & spinach macaroni cheese with bread rolls/garlic bread.
I'm just assuming you'll want something filling. Could do a trifle the day before? Or stew some fruit and prep crumble topping the night before and put it in the oven while you're eating dinner.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
What about a big stew with dumplings? or maybe some jacket spuds started in the microwave and finished in the oven? When the weather is miserable there is nothing much that beats fruit crumble and custard for pudding!0

Pasta - tuna or chicken
In different tubs, have chopped sliced veg like cucumber, peppers, onion, tomatoes, celery, basically any beg u have, grate carrots and cheese in other tubs
Cook chicken in advance and either mix with mayo and tub or keep and add to pasta when just cooked.(same with tuna)
Everyone is then happy as can add what beg they want, and as having straight away, pasta is hot, very filling and slow releasing
As an after for the kids, make jelly.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

I'd go with lasagne too. Make it the day before, and leave it on timer in your oven for when you get back. Serve with salad (couple of bags and some cherry toms) and crusty baguettes.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Jamie Oliver's "Everyday Chicken". Please google it as it is on the internet. Basically you put chicken portions, cherry tomatoes, herbs, potatoes, cannellini beans, garlic in a very large casserole. Bung it in the oven for 2-3 hours and leave it. Tastes great and it is a one pot meal. Please check oven temperature on internet and leave lid on. As far as time is concerned it will suggest about 1-1.5 hours but I find it is only ready when it has been left on for much longer.0

I was also going to suggest a big lasagne (or two). Prepared the night before, set the oven to come on while you're out. Throw together a huge bowl of salad when you get in (having prepped what you can the previous evening) and serve - couldn't be easier
Hope you have a great time, sounds like a lovely Saturday!0
