RIP my beautiful boy!

  • Yes, you did the right thing.
My beautiful little animal passed away last month so I know the pain you are feeling now. It will get better.

Try to remember the millions of happy moments you had with your boy and try not to focus on the moment of his passing. The happy moments far outweigh the sad one.

We never forget our furry friends but he needed to leave and you gave him the greatest gift, the thing he could not do for himself, you helped him in his hour of greatest need.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my wonderful Great Dane 3 years ago, she was 11 and quite ill, and the best thing I could do for her was to put her out of her pain. So many people kept on at me to get another dog, but it was too soon. However, 18 months later, I felt that it was time, and now I have my loopy German Shep. I will never forget my Willow, she was crazy and lovely, but we will always outlive our wonderful dogs, and I know that she's charging around beyond the Rainbow Bridge, not listening to anyone as she always did!

    Hugs xx

Flint - I am so sorry for your loss. I had to put my beloved kitty to sleep a couple of months back and felt the most enormous guilt over it. My brother said something to me while I was in floods of tears...

"They love us for our loving them when they are well, and they love us for taking the tough decisions when they are ill. They trust us to make those tough decisions when the inevitable comes"

My thoughts are with you at this dreadful time.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

yes you did absolutely the right thing for Flint. I lost my GSD at 13 and, like you,it happened quickly. He looked at me and I knew that he was tired and I needed to make that decision and quickly. The hurt does subside and you will be left with the very happy memories of time spent with him. As it all happened quickly then you will have far more happy memories than times when he was poorly. Take your time in grieving and go with the flow.

  • So very sorry about your loss. It is a horrible decision to have to make but the right one, you did what you had to do.

    RIP Flint xx

Hey Flint...of course you did the right thing.

If it comes down to your beloved dog's suffering or yours, because you did that last loving kindness for him...well, it's no contest really, is it?

I was devastated when I had to do it for my lovely old dog...but rather me suffer than him.

    Big hug for you.

I posted on a similar thread recently that I had to make the decision to say goodbye to three dogs within 2 years. All had to be put to sleep in fairly dramatic circumstances and decisions had to be made very quickly. I also felt guilty at first but after a while I KNEW I had done the right thing. You will, eventually, start remembering the good times that you had with your boy, and he will always be with you in your heart.

Best wishes at this sad time. You will come through it and know that you did the right thing by Flint.

Its such a terrible thing - I have been through it so many times now and each time I think my heart will just give out when it happens. But each day it will be a little less painful and even though you still hurt, one day you will be able to smile when you think of your times together.

You gave him a good and happy life and you were with him to the end. Many dogs never have such love and care.

    God bless xxx
