so at every level crossing ive got get out and check to see if ive got an oil leak?????? dont be silly:rotfl:[/QUOTE]
Think about it - they will be pushing the bike so it will take them longer to go over the tracks then if your driving which could lead to excessive amounts of petrol/oil on the railhead. Its a perfectly good answer IMOone of the famous 50 -
Railway Byelaws state:Any person who enters, or is on, any part of the railway to which the public have access must be on foot, except:
(i) where there is a notice permitting access to that part of the railway to those with specified conveyances; or
(ii) where an Operator or an authorised person has given permission
They also state:No person in charge of any motor vehicle, bicycle or other conveyance shall use it on any part of the railway in contravention of any traffic sign.
Still a bit wooly, I'm afraid! I would take your lead from the "Cyclists Dismount" sign, but ask BTP anyway.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Oh crikey, I did just email them so thank you for that!
That is really confusing. I understand the on foot bit, but must not be in control of a vehicle. The "shall use it" bit is saying definitely not to ride it over, but pushing it isnt really using it!
You are soooo helpful, thank you, as slowly we are getting a solid answer.
In the small chance that anyone else has this predicament I shall post the reply from the BTP. I bet i am going to have to go the long way. Unless I just leave my bike on the other side and walk to it! Would still be quicker LOL
