  • And woe betide any who dare tell him to stop, its on his TERMS or not at all!!!!

One such BMW driving idiot has had a visit from plod from driving thru the local school crossing here .... he was driviing to fast, he did acknowledge the lollypop lady by holding his arms up in a 'whatever gesture' as he went past her (she was in the rd, and had just shouted to the people about to cross to get back) luckily she had an adult witness who also got the reg number ........... so looking at a minimum £1k fine and 3 points ..... when plod hand delivered the NIP letter to his address he admitted it,and said he had a lot on his mind and wasn't paying much attention, and other such stuff, basically dropping himself in it left right and centre, so plod are probably going to do him for driving without care and attention and/or dangerous driving ... so might be more than 1k and 3 points, all for not wanting to stop for a couple of minutes.

And how i know? The lollypop lady and question is Mrs Primera.

Hmm. Some rather extreme suggestions there. It's not the end of the world, but yet another irritation in the daily grind of life.

Whilst sat there this morning, I notice Chorlton is correct - it says STOP and then has a picture of what looks like a big child and a little child. It doesn't look like an adult.

I'm quite happy to be courteous and let people across, but on my own terms rather than being told to do so, particularly if that person has no right to do so.

Anyway, as it appears that the lollipop lady does have every right to stop me, I shall sit there patiently and wait.

    Thanks all.

I can quite agree, I'm happy to give way to traffic on my own terms too, not when some red light or a give way sign tells me to.
It's a shame other road users don't appreciate this fact, sometimes I just don't think I should have to stop if I find it irratating to do so at that moment.

:rotfl: I've enjoyed this thread, just the image of you advancing at high speed towards the group, leaning out of your window shouting "I only stop for big children and little children, not adults you big road crossing fraud!" as your tyres thump over her twitching legs and her lollipop spirals over your roof.

Lol. That image will cheer me up in the morning.:D
And woe betide any who dare tell him to stop, its on his TERMS or not at all!!!!

My point is that I'm usually very courteous, but I get annoyed if others just push their way in or assume I'm going to stop and let them through, etc.
If I have to stop whether for lights, other traffic or lollipop ladies legally carrying out their duty, I'm happy to do so.:A

You do have a Highway Code ?

I do have a Highway Code, read from cover to cover in 1981 like most people I suspect.

And at the risk of upsetting Optimus, I also have a BMW...but it wasn't me.

Some lollipops are being fitted with cameras now apparently to catch such bad drivers going through a lollipop. The black bar on the lollipop traditionally was painted in blackboard paint to write on it the reg numbers of cars who didn't stop. A lollipop person holding a lollipop means EXACTLY the same thing by law as a red light. End of.

    Lollipop men and women eh:eek:

Yes an absolute neccessity to get the mums and brats the 10 yds accross the road from the 4x4 that's causing the hazard in the 1st place. ;);)

Seriously they are paramount to pedestrian safety at school run times, but some really do seem to lack the basic training or common sense in traffic management. Again like any job, some/most are exceptionally good but there are certainly a few dodgy ones about.

Seems to be where there is a central ped refuge that conflict occurrs in my experience.
Some nice totty on the pole up our way;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I think they do a useful job, but it does wind me up when they wait till you're 10ft away before jumping in to the road, pole first, causing me to either do an emergency stop or swerve. Doubly annoying when its clear traffic opposite way and behind me.

Where are these nice totty then, cyclone? I thought to be a lollipop lady, you had to be old enough to remember the Boer war and have a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp?

If you need to do either, you are driving too fast for the prevailing conditions anyway.
