    Money update

    J/A O/D £369.42
    Car Loan £2609.58
    [STRIKE]Mint £428.27[/STRIKE] gone
    Barcalycard (DH) £3369.98
    N/W cc (0%) £1750.15

    Total £8099.13

Getting there. Will be below £8k at the end of the month when I get paid. DH is loving seeing the numbers come down which a big bonus for me as he's not always as keen on debt busting as I am. He says he will try not to spend as much this month and make a bigger OP to something as I have given him an incentive for being debt free at the end of the year.

well it seems DH is slowly stepping onto the DFW wagon. we were sat on the settee last night during "quiet time" (DD has quiet time between bath and bed and she can choose a story or 10 mins TV sat quietly on the settee) and DH asked me what date it was. I told him and being nosey I asked why and he said he'd been looking at his bank account and was working out how long til payday and how much money he should have left the day before.

I was quite shocked cos he never does that so being naturally suspicious i asked him what he was planning to spend it on. and very casually he says "i'm not sure yet but we've got 2 cc's left haven't we? i was just deciding which one to make an OP to" and :j

although i have just come to the realisation that I must be one of those people who are never happy with what they've got. I have spent the last 2 years manically paying off every spaer penny I could to pay off our debts while he just paid the minimum payment and now I've finally got him on board I find myself feeling a bit put out cos I've got no spare money this month to OP. how stupid is that?? :o

not much going on here debt busting wise.

£25 paid off the N/W cc with another £25 being paid tomorrow. but that's about it for about a week. we are quite lucky in the sense that I get paid at the end of the month and DH gets paid at in the middle of the month but we still go through dips where nothing seems to happen.

I'm starting to stress a little that we won't have much paid off by the time I go on mat leave and that I won't be able to afford to live on my mat pay and I'll end up back in my OD. DH laughed it off when I told him and said that he'll buy us a ticket for the euromillions rollover tomorrow night then I won't have to worry  but I can't bank on something that's [STRIKE]probably[/STRIKE] never going to happen.

I need to get my butt in gear and start sorting through the spare room to find "treasures" to sell on eb*y

  • Do you have some way of 'forecasting' to put your mind at ease? I have big chunks between my payments and it feels like nothing is happening but I can project forward in my money program and reassure myself all is according to plan.

I keep all my money info in a program called Microsoft Money on my p.c and then work from the figures on there as opposed to what the bank says I have. As all my earnings & expenses are listed in the program I can put in a future date and it will tell me how much money will be in the account at that point. So for example I know if all goes to plan by this time next year I'll have £3701 in savings. I also know that even though my bank balance says today I have £856 in it that if all goes according to budget on the 2nd september the balance will drop to £1.12 for 3 nights so even though I might 'feel' a bit flush I cannot spend any more money than I have budgeted for.

It's also handy for 'tucking money away' without it ever leaving my account.

You can download it for free, I couldn't operate without it now.

I must be more productive with my time especially as I have a week off next week and want to make the most of it without getting to friday and wondering where the week went.

so my list of things to do today is as follows

    my list for today

[STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE] looking better than I thought and not wanting to jinx it but we may have paid off our j/a O/D. Have to wait til DH gets paid on friday before counting it as paid off though
[STRIKE]take DD to school[/STRIKE] and asked about fees for next year when she goes to school part time. this should reduce our nursery fees
put all DD's DVD's away after she threw them over the floor cos she couldn't fit them back in the storage boxes
work at 4pm am leaving in about 10 minutes
[STRIKE]sort through card making stuff[/STRIKE] got quite a bit of stuff that I could sell as I would never use :D
[STRIKE]make cards to sell at carnival[/STRIKE] made 4 in 2hours oh dear  ETA made 7 altogether. not exactly very many but still quite a few considering the time it took me to decide what each one was going to look like!!!!
DO NOT get distracted catching up on diaries on here ;)oops

I'm feeling a bit more positive today. Had a bit of a wobble yesterday as tenant is not paying her rent (again). The letting agents rang her to ask why and she said she's got a lot of issues that she will put in writing to the letting agents  Don't know what the issues are yet as the only thing she would tell the letting agent was the damp problem which she didn't tell us about til last week and we got sorted straight away. I hope she was just annoyed cos the letting agents told her that she would need to set up a SO to pay her rent or be charged a £10 fee to pay by card which she has been doing quite a bit :(

nothing I can do about it at the moment though. Just have to wait to see what the issues are if/when she puts them in writing to the letting agents.

I am not very good at waiting for things though so am trying to distract myself by doing MSE things. hence the card making this morning.

Something I should get back to hmmmmmm...............
