Morning all. Thank you for all the encouragement re paying off my overdraft. I've been keeping a close eye on finances recently and as DH got quite a lot of overtime it looks like we may be be able to pay off the joint account overdraft this month too. :T
We will have to wait til the beginning of next month though to see if it's still in the black when all the monthly direct debits come out. I don't want to get too excited just in case but it's looking pretty good at this point. As long as I haven't just jinxed it :eek:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Probably about 5 mins in this house starnac!
:rotfl:
So excited at you being able to pay off other overdraft too! :j :j is that you debt free then?! :j :j good long way towards it at least, well done
Yep, we are finaly havong the ceiling plastered this coming week :j Problem is there's a floor missing in the middle and the roof slopes up so it needs scaffolding. Had a quote a few years back but they wanted over £1000 and it just never go to the top of the priority list...However, now we're planning to move, it looks dreadful and a pain to fix so is likely to put people off, so it's one of the few things I'm paying someone else to do!

Hi Cheery that would just leave us with DH's overdraft and then that's it :T
Bar mortgagebut let's not count that just yet :rotfl:
That ceiling sounds like a right palaver! No wonder you were quoted silly money. Hope it's worth it when it's done. Are you replacing the floor too? Or is it supposed to be missing? Some fancy design feature?Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Mr Cheery's fancy design idea...
When they first moved in 26 years ago, there we two attic rooms. One is still there, nice big room with window and skylight
Other was tiny storage space with a door into it but no window. So he (and a builder!) took out half of the floor of that room to turn it into a mezzanine platform thingy sitting over the main bedroom, and put a giant skylight over it, and that's where we sleep, staring up at the stars and gloriously oblivious of the mess below
they put insulation and plasterboard on the ceiling (which had just been the roof before, but for some baffling reason relationships broke down with the builder and the plastering never got done...
It looks a right old mess, and didn't make for a brilliant view from the bed... :rotfl: but as I say, never felt like a priority. Today of course the damn roof is leaking agin so we've spent several hours trying to dry the boards out so they can plaster over them, and figure out how the water is getting in.
I'd show you but I've never yet managed to take a photo showing what it actually looks like! :rotfl:
Anyway, sorry, waffling on your threadGREAT news about only having DH's overdraft left (of COURSE the mortgge doesn't count!) :j :j :j
