Stop snoring tonight OR ELSE!!!

Try the nasal strips as they are meant to be very good, and maybe lying on your back as that might help :-)0

My DH is worse lying on his back. I have the option of going and sharing my DD's room but as the walls are paper thin it doesn't make much difference. I just wake him up a bit to get him to move.
He also twitches alot, the number of nights I've received a clonk on the head.Proud to be dealing with my debts

When I was young, my mother used to snore enough to shake the walls (seemed like it anyway
) Earplugs worked for me, but I don't know how my father managed not to put a pillow over her face - guess he must've been deafer than I thought!
Our lad snores when he's had a beer, or when he's sleeping on his back - I don't hear him though, unless I am already awake. Your poor GF0 -
Have you a large collar size neck?
If so, you are more prone to snoring, and to obstructing your airway while you sleep. Please make a GP appointment to discuss this.
Failing that, on top of the other advise given, sleeping on your side helps, but people will naturally sleep in their own favoured position. If this means on your back, it may be worth stitching a golf ball to the back of your PJ's (or an old tee-shirt if you don't wear PJs), as this will stop you rolling on to your back.
Also, as other posters have said, drinking and smoking adds to snoring woes. I'm afraid it may be worth your GF trying earplugs.**This space is available to rent**0 -
I snore
and OH is a really light sleeper - not a good combination! I tried nasal strips, which didn't work, and throat spray, which kind of did. Now I've managed to train myself (goodness knows how!) to sleep on my side, facing away from him, on my left hand side, and prop my right arm (wrapped round the duvet) under my chin to keep my mouth closed.
Works for us! First couple of weeks I kept turning over, he kept pushing me back againNow it's pretty much automatic to sleep like that, and I hardly snore at all
It's just a matter of working out what works for both of you. If you didn't know that you snored, she's obviously not mentioned it before, so what did you do differently yesterday?? ( or did you only meet her yesterday??!) Sometimes people snore more when they've had rather a lot to drink? Not sure you'll find a cure in one night, but good luck!

Oohh, your girlfriend has my sympathy! My hubby snores terribly and I've spent many a night downstairs on the sofa because he wouldn't wake up so I could make him go down.:(
He's tried the strips and sprays, I've tried wearing ear plugs (I could still hear him), elbowing him in the ribs, thumping him the back, nipping his bum, tickling his feet, pinching his nose, tickling inside his nose and ears with a pen, I once took the big spiky brush off my hair styler and placed it underneath him (that didn't disturb him) and I've even tried suffocating him with a pillow and that didn't work either. Some things might work for a minute or two but he's soon back to making his horrible racket.
The only thing I found that did help was a device that he wore on his wrist like a watch that picked up the sound of his snoring and gave him an electric shock. The only problem was that he refused to wear it again, after it gave him shocks when I snored.:D
At the moment, I'm threatening him with getting single beds but he's not keen on that idea at all.:rotfl:0 -
How about a few joss sticks to help your GF chill out? - it is her problem after all!
To show willing you could try sleeping on your side or ask her to give you a kick - but if you've got a cold then you'll probably not be able to stop youself - do you snore all night long or just as you're falling asleep?0 -
my hubby snores. really really loud!!! nothing works and he has seen the doctor so many times about it but they just say to lose weight. he snored just as bad when we first got together and was skinny!!! anyway, i got him one of those wrist things from lloyds i think. when he snored it gave him an electric shock. when i coughed it gave him an electric shock. it didnt stop him snoring but him getting electrocuted every time he did snore made me feel so much better!!!! lol0

Ear plugs work for me.
We found the nasal strips didn't really help.
I tried various ear plugs and now use the ones that are like memory foam, they are fairly comfortable, took me a few nights to get used to them, but they make a huge difference.

Go see your Dr and explain to him. Both my exs snored really badly and had the operation to decrease the vibration and get their nose / sinus hoovered out, which worked greatly. Although both said it was painful initially it was the best thing they did. One of my exs had other sleep problems also and this operation also helped those out.
Other than that get used to the spare bed or getting kicked in the ribsGrocery Challenge - Jan £4.42/£200.00
